When will you move your car seat forward facing? At one year or wait until they are 2 as it is now recommended? My daughter is almost 14 months and she is still rear facing. Debating when to make the switch.

We moved at 1 year as my daughter started throwing tantrums and it became impossible to get her in (how are they so strong)? She wanted to face forward so we made the switch and the tantrums stopped. She's the boss...

For me, it is more about weight/height and maturity. The current plan is for DS to stay rear-facing until he is at least 4.

we kept RJ rear facing until about 20 months. He was fussing a lot in the seat, and the day we turned him around he was completely silent, totally mesmerized from all the sights of cars going by and everything. I wish that would have lasted... now he gets so bored in the car so easily.

DD is still rear-facing at 16 months. She's really tall (like 90th percentile), so I feel like she's kinda scrunched in there, but my husband and I agreed we'd keep her rear-facing until 2 or when she starts throwing tantrums back there. So far she still seems happy facing backward, though.

I am going to keep DS RF until at least 2, just because everything I have read shows how much safer it is, and since it's the new recommendation. He doesn't throw fits in the car when sitting RF though, so that does make it easier.

we are at 14 months and still rear facing - we actually didn't move him to the convertible car seat until 1 year and had it rear facing. i will keep him there as long as he is happy, but have a feeling will turn him around before 2. it is a wrestling match to get him in his car seat but once we start driving he is fine.
