Dolly parton has an organization that gives out free books, but I cant get them where we live.
Pj library sends super cute books for Jewish kids. They're amazing, they send books for each holiday, there's a book on yiddish, and she just got one all about Israel. I know there's a couple of Jews on here, sign up if you haven't already!
Any other things I'm missing? I love books.... especially when they're free

I love Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! We've gotten free books for DD for the past year now.
Other than borrowing from your local library, I don't know of any other free book programs either. I take my girls to the library for storytime once a week and we borrow and return everytime. One thing neat is I heard NY Public Libraries are doing e-books now so I've been meaning to check that out soon on my iPad!

@artbee: We can't get the books from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library where we live either. I was so bummed when I tried to sign up. We're moving this summer. I'm hoping our new location will be a good one!

Has anyone here done a book swap? A friend of mine asked if I wanted to do one, but then a bunch of other moms said they've done it before and never once received a book.

If you have a kindle or a nook, there's Pixel of Ink that that gives you ebooks that are free or on sale. http://www.pixelofink.com/
@chopsuey119: You can borrow certain ebooks from Amazon if you have an Amazon Prime account.
