Awkward & totally personal question, but is daily TTC too much? I have heard that Every other day is best.... Any opinions on this? Did you just wait until ovulation week?

Look up the Sperm Meets Egg Plan. That's what we used
They say every day bd is best but every other day if there is a problem with sperm count.

I've heard mixed opinions. The first month we concieved we did two days on, one day off, repeat. We MC'd and did EOD every cycle. Then I got frustrated and on our 8th cycle we did two days on, one day off, repeat and got another BFP. I feel like 2 on, 1 off was a nice compromise of both plans.

I have heard/read that every other day is best because it helps the sperm count to be higher..so that's what I'm going to try this month. I thought every day would be better and there were a few times in the last few cycles that we bd 2-3 days in a row, but we are heading into cycle #6 and I'm getting frustrated...so we will see what happens this time! Hopefully I will have good news soon!

Thanks! @ ASH I really like the sperm meets egg method too. I will have to save that under favorites. @ charityanne, we are going into our 5th cycle of TTC. First cycle I don't think that I ovulated and the 2nd cycle was really long. The last 2 cycles were normal...so here is to hoping! Good luck to you as well!

As others mentioned, every day is fine given the sperm count is good. Otherwise, every other day is good. We did every day for quite a few months back to back; and it got exhausting before I even ovulated! The month we got our BFP, we DTD one day, took two days off, DTD the next day and took the following two days off, etc.

@Alivoo01, did you use OPKs and increase frequency during ovulation the month you got your BFP?
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Claire.Peonies: I think I skipped OPKs that month because OPKs were another thing I was obssessing over which was causing stress. We just did the 1 day on, 2 days off frqeuency the entire month; and did not increase the frequency around the time I would normally ovulate.

We do EOD because there's no way ED would happen!! We both work late/long hours and I would be totally exhausted!
pomelo / 5326 posts
We did EOD during OV week and not the frequently the rest of the time. I don't think either of us could handle every day! Way too tiring!

We started with ED, around ovulation (I charted/temps, no OPKs, so just starting a few days before the earliest I ever ovulated until a few days after it was confirmed with a temp rise). Then we went to at least EOD-- sometimes slightly more often, the month I got my BFP.

We tried to stick with every other day It was hard because I had long cycles (ovulated between CD 30-35). Each month I would be hopeful that I'd ovulate earlier, so I'd start around CD 14 and we'd do every other day, which was exhausting sometimes.

We have sex often anyway, so we don't really "schedule" sex except during my fertile days. We try and make sure to have sex every day during fertile time.

We did SMEP w Preseed. For us personally, ED put too much pressure on us and it wasnt fun. EOD until we got a positive OPK worked well!
grapefruit / 4187 posts
On the cycle that I got a BFP, we waited to BD (actually via IUI to be specific) until the day after I got a positive on an OPK. As a result DH's sperm count was super high (around 40 million when they only look for about 5 million). After that, we followed the advice of the Dr. by BD'ing again that night, once the next day and once the following day.

My personal feeling is that unless you're dealing with some kind of sperm or egg quality issue just going with the flow is the best choice. Every day, every other day, whatever you can manage without it feeling like an obnoxious chore. I did four rounds of clomid to conceive mine, and I got pregnant on the cycle when I backed off the EVERY DAY OR ELSE serious plan. Totally anecdotal, but I certainly preferred to be relaxed and to not make our sex life into something boring and stressful.

We did 2 days on, 1 day off ... Our besties did every day. Both of us ended up with BFP's. I also know of couples who swear they 'only did it once', and got a BFP.

We were kind of both. We did one day on, one day off, two days on and got pregnant. But that's just how it worked out for us. Some cycles we did every other and some cycles we did every day. Every day was rough though and we couldn't really keep it up.

I can barely get my DH to BD during my fertile time, normally he will wait until Sunday mornings.

This is exactly what we are trying to figure out for month two. We only bd 2x during fertile week, and I think I Ovulated later than I thought! Any new bfp bees want to share their frequency? Gah, so personal story!!

Just about every day worked on our BFP cycles. In our case there was a motility issue so I think it worked in our favor.
coconut / 8079 posts
we aimed for eod during fertile week (i wasn't using opks--but my periods were very regular) the month we got our bfp we actually did every day during that week. it just so happened we were on vacation. we can't keep up with every day during regular life!

@spaniellove: When you say every day, did you just start a few days before expected ovulation? Last month I got a smiley on cd9 so I'm thinking to start trying cd 7??

Any time I tried to schedule things, it didn't work out so well. We just tried to get in 2-3 times leading up to/ including O day. The cycle I conceived we dtd O-3, O-2 and O day. I used opks and charted CM so I'm *pretty* sure of the day I O'd.

@dc yoga bee: For us it was pretty much as soon as AF was over but that was mostly to make sure motility was really good by the time ovulation came around, so like cd 5 or 6 through 16 or 17. Most people probably don't need to do it quite that much! I was just trying to avoid doing IUI/IVF again.

For 1st pregnancy, we did at least EOD for the two weeks in the middle of my 28 day cycle. I don't temp or chart.

Once daily here... Actually cut down on the weekends (but then more frequent weekday activity). Didn't want to dilute his count... Had bpf on second month trying

We did two days on one day off and got pregnant on the first try twice.

With my first two it took only one time. Not charting or anything just stupid luck.
