Just to note, this is not something I'm willing to ruin a very long close friendship over, but I'm bugged with it.

Preface: Last year we invited BFF and her family over to watch a big football game and we had lots of food, snacks, ect. BFF wanted to use our grill to make Jalapeno Poppers (wrapped in bacon) she told DH she had it under control and could handle it (she had a degree in culinary arts.) Lets just say our grill caught fire and is now ruined, the bottom is completely rusted out from the bacon grease causing a fire.

Initially her husband was upset with her and offered to pitch in some money for a new one (it was only 2 years old) but that was last year and we have not received any money and she now jokes about ruining our grill. We really need a new one now and I mentioned to her in passing our expensive they are with a baby on the way, hoping the subtle hint would remind her She just joke and says "sorry, the boys should have been helping!"

Is it normal to expect some compensation or is that just the price you pay for entertaining guests? I'm annoyed (I'll get over it) but it seems so rude she's not offering to chip in at all knowing she ruined it and admitting it.

Thanks from a hormonal pregnant woman! ha
