I'd love to know some answers to this too! I hope to be able to WAH part time at least.

I think I sort of count as a WAHM? I go to an office everyday but am able to take LO with me. So, WOHBWLOM. Work out of home but with LO mom

He's 7 months old and we went back to work at 5.5 weeks PP. My mom works with me so she is able to help me if I have a phone call or need to do something uninterrupted on the computer that can't wait until nap time.
I spend a lot of time on the floor. I gather up all the paperwork I need to do/check and sit in LO's play area and do what I can. I do all of my stuff I need to give my full attention to when LO is asleep. My boss likes to push LO around in his stroller in the warehouse so I get a little break during that time. He is pretty independent so he spends a lot of time in his jumper or in his pack n play with a bunch of toys. He's a loud player so I will step out into an empty office to make any quick calls I have.

He is teething and miserable this week so I really am having a tough time being productive. I'm trying to get over my issues with my MIL because if she could just take him one day a week that would help me tremendously.

Oh, I work normal hours. 7:30-4...M-F. (40 hour work week). Ideally LO will stay with me as long as he can, once he gets to be too much of a distraction I will either have to go to part time or send him to MIL's. Once we have #2 I will do the same thing, bring that baby with me to work. If Jack stays cool, I will have them both with me until he is old enough for preschool and will start a petition for wine to be OK in the office. Ahh!

@Mrs. Yoyo: I WAHM and work for myself. That means I get to set my own business hours! With the exception of this fall and spring, we had someone come to our home to watch Chloe. It was significantly less expensive than daycare, and I honestly preferred her to be at home.

I don't recall ever being interrupted. I would stop around 11:30 to make both of us lunch -- something the caregiver could have done for her, but I didn't mind and I had to eat anyway! I ate at my desk, though, and work through lunch.

Our caregiver starts next week, and I'm looking forward to structure. I'm glad we gave it a try, but me working while she was At preschool didn't work out the way I had envisioned.

I plan on taking a maternity leave this fall but am undecided on how long. Our caregiver will watch both kids when I return to work. I am hopefully going to be nursing, so I'm not entirely sure what my schedule will look like... But I am still glad the kids will be at home!

@Mrs. Yoyo: we didn't hire anyone until she was about 6 months old, so I guess she didn't know any better?? Though as she got more independent (last summer, for instance) and the tantrums started I would get a little distracted. Sometimes I'd have to step out of my office to help diffuse the situation. Not an issue, but a work at home job hazard

I do feel a twinge of guilt for having someone watch our infant, which is silly. I was with Chloe full time until she was 6 months, and I know I won't take a long maternity leave. I'm having a hard time envisioning a 5w old in someone's care, even though I'll be home. Utterly ridiculous..

I WAH 2x/week, but I make sure that I have FT child care while I'm here. So my dad or my FIL is here when I WAH. If it happens to be a day care day, he goes to day care around the same time to keep him on his schedule.

Both DH and I work at home with flexible schedules. We're both writers; he's a freelancer and I'm full-time with a company that lets all of its employees work remotely and set their own hours. My parents typically babysit two days a week to give us uninterrupted work time. On days when they're not here, DH and I take turns -- I'll watch our daughter (17 months) for an hour downstairs while DH works upstairs in his office, and then we'll switch off.

If you add up the total hours I spend working each day, it doesn't quite amount to 8. But both DH and I do a little work in the evenings after our daughter goes to bed. And I hit my deadlines and get everything done, so this arrangement is working for now.
