My first LO started doing this a bit later, around 16 weeks. It was helpful if I did breast compressions while he was nursing so that milk was constantly flowing and he was at least getting as much as possible in the short time he was on the breast. I also think that 10 min a side could be plenty if your LO has gotten more efficient.

This happened to me a few weeks later than that. It didn't last that long! (A week or two)

I always worry whether she gets enough. She has been a fast nurser since birth and I rarely get more than 8 minutes.

My DD is 10 weeks and she does the popping on and off, too, more often in the evening. She's always been a fast eater, nurses from just does one boob in 4-10 mins. When she fusses sometimes I do breast compressions, sometimes I just pull her off and reoffer the breast in another few minutes. She's gaining weight and has lots of wet and dirty diapers, so I'm trying not to be paranoid about my supply.

@Mrs D: This happened to us around that time. I found it was actually my son not being that hungry OR it was when he was super tired. Other times it was honestly him just being a little fussy! It completely passed.
Don't jump to a conclusion about a tongue tie. If he's 10 weeks and things were ok. it's probably not necessary. SO many babies have tongue tie and can feed just fine.
