With DD1 I was negative for GBS - so this may be a silly question!
I'm GBS positive this time - should I take a probiotic before delivery and after to avoid thrush? I got thrush while nursing DD1 because of mastitis meds and I reeeeeeeally want to avoid it again!

I had a c-sections and had antibiotics because of it (which is the norm) - no thrush problems here. I did convince myself I had it (crazy first time mom problems) and our pediatrician gave me the cream just in case. She said it wouldn't hurt me to use it.

Yes, definitely take a probiotic!!! And it's probably a good idea to give your LO a probiotic after they are born.
I was GBS+, received antibiotics in labour and got thrush 2 weeks PP. It was HELL and very difficult to get rid of. It almost made me stop breastfeeding!

@QBbride: oh lord. this scares me. I think thrush may have been worse than mastitis, honestly. and my DD didn't even get it - just me!!
any tips on where/what to get for infant probiotics??

@sorrycharlie: I'm in Canada and here they recommend Biogaia. Do you guys have that in the States? It's 5 drops daily (given like the vitamin D drops). I took BioK, which was really good. Basically just make sure you get something that is kept in the fridge (higher quality).
I spent 8 (!!!!!) months sterilizing pump parts, sterilizing soothers, washing everything in hot etc to no avail. It was horrible!! Not to mention the pain. I want to cry even thinking about it!
I'm definitely planning on taking probiotics next time!!

I was GBS+, LO was born before I could get the meds, and I still got thrush. I don't think there is any sure fire way to avoid it, but probiotics wouldn't hurt!

Take the probiotic! We got thrush at 10 days pp and again at 8 weeks pp. It was awful.

A probiotic can't hurt, but I was gbs+ and never got thrush. Had one clogged duct early on but no mastitis. I didn't even know there was a correlation between the two until now...
I was worried about thrush when DD was on antibiotics for an ear infection since she got a yeast rash but we were both fine.

I was gbs negative with DD1, got the antibiotics because of my section and still got thrush.

I don't think there is a correlation with being GBS+ and thrush but rather receiving antibiotics and thrush (I know you usually receive antibiotics when you're GBS+ but not always!)
