So, I've finally convinced my DH to get a kitty cat! I haven't had a cat since I was a kid myself, so I'm trying to remember how to raise a kitten! I'm super excited about it, but the thing is.... we have a dog. And I'm nervous about them getting along. I really want them to be able to play together. Normally, I would get an adult cat, but I have a feeling my dog would accept a kitten better than an adult. I'm planning on getting one from a local shelter. Has anyone introduced a kitten to a dog they already have? Any tips?

Also, I have bought these items for future kitty cat:

Litter Box/Scoop
Food (Nature's Miracle, I believe)
Hard Sided carrier with a door in the top
Kong rubber curry brush
Shallow stainless steel food dish
Gravity waterer
Scratch toy with ball
Shweat Scoop Litter

My DH is also planning on making our own cat tree/scratcher this weekend. We'll see how that goes! Lol.

We are planning on introducing them VERY slowly. We have a separate bedroom that we have cleaned up to put the kitten in while we are getting them used to each other. Is there anything I should watch out for as far as kitten-proofing? Or litter training?

Is there anything I should know/do/get before we bring home this little ball of fur?

"Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur... Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr." I had to!
