So LO #2 is due any day now, and my husband and I are worried about naps and bedtimes. Our 2 yo has always been a terrible sleeper. One of us still has to stay in his room for him to sleep. On a good night he goes down after 10 minutes in the crib. Bad nights, like the past week, it takes an hour of sitting in the dark and humming. Then we have to tiptoe out of the room because of the hardwood floors. And he often wakes once or twice a night, but sometimes humming through the video monitor gets him back down.
(LO also doesnt nap in his crib, I have to rock him and lay him down on my bed and stay next to him. But lately I use that time to nap my very pregnant self. Obviously I cant do that with a newborn)
We are in our new house where LO's room and the nursery are next to each other upstairs. Because of the openness of the two story layout, sound really travels. When putting LO down, you can hear everything in the kitchen and guest room, even with white noise playing.
So besides having to ask guests to try not to move when we are putting LO down (we have family visiting for the next 6 weeks), we now have to worry about the newborn waking LO up with his cries with the all night feedings, and vice versa.
Did anyone else deal with this? How did you handle getting both down and keeping them from disturbing each other? I am thinking of sleeping outside the baby's room for several weeks so I can get to him quickly when he wakes all night long. But the noise issue is worrying me
Right now I am dreading a real clusterf*^k
