Would you like a site that told you which areas to avoid when traveling to a new city? Is Ghetto Tracker a catchy name for such a service/ site?

That's a terrible idea. I can see how people are offended by it. We don't' really have a "bad" area in our town, but we have a lower income area, and there are some cool businesses and parks in that area. I don't think they should be avoided. they should be patronized to help out the folks in that area.

If crime is the issue, there are several decent national crime reporting sites. I'm not sure what they thought this site would add to that? I don't care what yahoos on the 'net have to say about a neighborhood I'm planning to visit, but I do care if there have been 15 carjackings in the last 4 days on the street I'm going to park my car on, you know? Silly business plan, I think.

Hum, seems pretty insensitive to me. Most travel guide books will tell you areas to avoid of they are really skeevie or dangerous.
To avoid real problem areas when traveling abroad it is good to consult the State Department website. The only really dangerous place I have ever been was Honduras a few years ago, and the State Department site listed warnings and and cities to avoid within Honduras.
