My husband's company donates to a local homeless and battered women's and children's shelter (time, resources, money, etc). For Christmas they've asked their employees to play Santa for a child at the shelter. DH picked an 8 month old boy (all we know about him).

I'm having a little bit of trouble decided what to get for him. I was looking at the VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker, but read some not stellar reviews about it, so I'm hesitant.

We were told there's no price limit, but most people keep the gifts in the $30-$40 range. I'm not sure something that needs batteries is the way to go (and obviously not something too big...I've not been to the shelter in person but I can't imagine they have a ton of space). And my heart aches for these kids, so I want something really fun.

Any suggestions?
