I can't stand Best Buy gift cards! I actually dislike most gift cards with Target being the only exception!
What are some gifts you don't like?

Really? ! I can usually find things at any store to spend a gift card on. I don't like picture frames and candles. No more room in my house for that stuff!

I hate when other people buy me clothes. Or cheap smelly bathroom stuff that I'll never use.

I second the picture frames and candles, we have WAY too many. I also don't like getting stuff that you sit around the house, I'm not a fan of clutter.

Haha I don't like when people give me soaps. I love gift cards!! Esp amazon gift cards!

- candles
- soaps/Body Shop stuff
- anything without a gift receipt
I LOVE gift cards! They make my life easier!

Ditto what everyone else said - soaps, candles, picture frames, things without a gift receipt. If it's been sitting in your re-gift closet or attic for a year or more, I probably don't want it either...

I love all gift cards! Even if it's to a place where I have nothing to buy (like Best Buy) I save them and use them to buy gifts for others later on. As good as cash!

I'm also a fan of gift cards! I don't like picture frames or random articles of clothing (e.g. a sweatshirt from a hunting place).

Anything my GMIL gives me! LOL she gives me the worst presents for Christmas.

@mrs. wagon: I do that too. I had a spa gift card for $50 in my wallet for two years that never expires, so I gave it to my friend for her bridal shower present. I was glad that I had it, because I was so poor!

@belleoftheballe: lol, give us some examples!

@autumnlove: Last year it was a candle. That was it. From a grocery store.
This year, it was a purple, itchy scarf and purple gloves.
One year it was a journal from the dollar store with a used Sharpie.
My DH gets lots of money with directions not to share it with me.
The old woman is pure evil. She doesn't even acknowledge my birthday. She says it's my parents' job to do that. Witch!
Luckily I have a fabulous MIL (her daughter!) who gives great presents and is all around great.

I can't stand anything with a scent-- an aunt in law always gives us tons of Bath and Body Works stuff every year for Christmas and usually I take it back to exchange it for the one product of theirs that I like- because of all of their sales it usually takes all 10 bottles of stuff to equal the one thing!
Otherwise everyone around us is pretty great with gifts thankfully, but I will totally exchange or return anything that I don't like which drives my husband batty. The way I see it though they would not be thrilled if they spent their hard earned money for something I will jam into a closet for three years before I guiltily donate it so I would rather pick something I will use.

@mrs. bird: yup agreed! I'd way rather get a gift card to pick out my own clothes.

I love getting scented stuff...especially candles and especially around the holidays. I guess I get gifted expensive candles bc they smell great and if I had to buy them it would cost at least $20-$40 per candle...I don't like to spend that much money on candles so I love getting them as gifts.
I don't really like home decor stuff...bc then I feel pressure to display it in my house and most of the time it's not really my taste/style. I feel awful but my in laws went to New Mexico and paid all this money to have a dried thing of chilis shipped to us and I thought it was to eat but I guess they expected me to hang it up in my house...it's hanging in my garage until I figure out what to do with it...I feel terrible but I don't want to hang it up in my house

@belleoftheballe: used sharpie? hahhahahahahha! it reminds me of a time my friend kept wanting to meet up because she had to give me my Christmas gift....I didn't have any intentions of giving her a gift until then! I went out and bought her a Coach wristlet and she gave me a notebook and Bic pen!

I love gift cards! doesn't matter where, I'll find a way to use it. I especially like Target and restaurant gift cards.
I hate getting cheap bath products and candles. I don't mind bath products from nicer stores like Bath & Body Works. My MIL gives a lot of weird gifts that I have no use for. Like little nick-knacks (sp??). Oh and my grandma loves giving me used food magazines. She's given me some from years ago. lol

Picture frames, candles, just little knick-nacs in general, I never have anywhere to put them!

I'll take a gift card above anything else. I hate when other people attempt to buy me clothes (unless it's my sister or DH) and I really hate things with scents (gives me headaches) and any knick knacks.

@belleoftheballe: Your GMIL sounds like my MIL. The first Christmas we spent with her DH got almost $1000 and I got a luggage scale. This year he got a really nice cashmere sweater and some tennis stuff and I got a dirty mug wrapped in crumpled old newspaper. I'm so glad your MIL makes up for her mom.
I think the worst gift I've gotten was a set of twin sized sheets for our wedding.
eggplant / 11287 posts
Body Shop stuff (body wash and scented sprays). I don't use them and I have a huge stash building up. Lol
Dishes for my house. My aunt always buys me random platters or salad bowls and I just don't have room to store them!
Picture frames

@oliviaoblivia: twin sized sheets for your WEDDING?!? WOW. I can only imagine how awkward that thank you card was to write!

Body lotion is the worst! Soap at least I can use or put in the guest bath, but lotion...ugh...

"As seen on TV" gifts or things that seem very last minute (anything from the gift aisle at walgreens). Clothes from MIL...she'll buy DH shirts that are the same size he wore when he was 14, or she'll get DS swim shorts that will fit him come winter...?
I'm not a big fan of body wash, soaps or candles unless it's someone who knows me really well (then they probably know what scents make me gag!)

@autumnlove: Hahaha oh man, a notebook and a pen for a coach wristlet? sheesh.
My GMIL always gives me weird gifts, but I don't think it's out of spite, she just thinks they're good gifts. The first year I was dating DH, she gave me a picture frame from VICTORIA'S SECRET! I nearly died when I saw the VS box and had to open it in front of the entire family. Then another year she gave me a carousel horse figurine in an old shoe box with no labels/tags or explanation.
