OH YEAH!! Some days are just so stressful haha!!
I actually generally have a beer instead... a leinenkugel
there is a whole case in my fridge right now lol

No (well, I'm pregnant now so I can't really) - I don't really like to drink at home. Only if I've had a SUPER bad day every once in a while will I think to open a bottle.

I should have also asked or before! Nothing wrong with that either!!

@Coco Bee: last night I had a beer - dogfishhead yum! Tonight a glass of red wine!

@winniebee: hahaha re: the before kid goes to bed
I usually try to wait until after because then it's a long stretch before he eats again so the alcohol has time to exit my system
during the day I still nurse ever 3-4 hours.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Yes, after he goes down for his longest stretch. I soak in a hot bath with a glass of wine. It's divine.

@Coco Bee: basically one of the only benefits of exclusively pumping was I got to drink a glass whenever I felt like it!

I'm not really a wine drinker, but I do sometimes treat myself to an adult beverage after DS goes to bed.
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
Yes ma'am
I'm into a new Niagara Reisling right now that usually hits the spot. And usually I'm a red wine girl.

ummm, THANK YOU @winniebee. Thanks to you I'm about to pump and then enjoy a glass of wine!! We have a bottle of moscato in the fridge just calling my name!!!
nectarine / 2039 posts
yes.
sleep regression was the WORST because I'd have my glass of wine all poured and then I'd hear the cry.
Cheers to being back to the after-bed drink!!!

@mrs. wagon: yummy! Enjoy!
@cvbee: now THAT is a milestone
pomegranate / 3983 posts
Before I was pregnant, yes, although not as often as I should have now that I think about it.
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
Once in awhile, but I'm not a huge wine drinker. A glass of Belgium beer, though - yes!
pomelo / 5321 posts
@Coco Bee: haha I always tell DH that I'm going to have an adult beverage. I don't even know where it came from!
grapefruit / 4817 posts
Oh, yeah! Lately it's been wine, but it's usually beer. I love Fall beers, though, and a good hard cider!
grapefruit / 4819 posts
Most definitely - just finished a glass of red a few minutes ago! LO is down for the night so I have another 9 hrs to go before she will need to feed again.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
I would. If one glass got me tipsy then maybe not but it doesn't. My parents always had wine with dinner even when we were little so this doesn't seem weird to me.
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
Definitely tonight! DH and I are going to dinner to celebrate my birthday.
nectarine / 2504 posts
Oh yeah! Not every night but sometimes mama needs a drink to unwind.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
Sometimes before...
usually beer or a cocktail though.
About twice a week or so. I thought I would go back to my 1/2 to 1 drink a night with dinner but I haven't felt like it.

Usually a pour a glass or two of wine or beer during dinner and sip on it through the evening. Just depends on what type of mood I'm in.
pomelo / 5628 posts
So do you pump and dump (if you're pumping)? Or how long do you give in between?
I had my first glass tonight. DH and I went to my favorite sushi place and had a "date night." I'm going to dump this one, but I'm curious what everyone does.
eggplant / 11287 posts
No. We have no alcohol in our house (sometimes I wish we did) and LO is such a terrible sleeper that her next wakeup is totally unpredictable and I usually just nurse her back to sleep.

@Mrs Green Grass: From what I've read and been told by my midwives, the alcohol is most potent in your bloodstream between 30 - 90 minutes after it's consumed. That being said, they also told me that if I drink it with food and am well hydrated, drinking one glass of wine at a slow to moderate pace is not going to have any detrimental effect on LO if she needs to feed within that 30 - 90 minute window.
I still tend to err on the side of caution but if I needed to feed or pump during that time, I wouldn't worry too much about it, nor would I dump the milk. I freeze my milk in ice cube trays and then dump them in a gallon ziploc bag, so the chances of grabbing all the ice cubes from that one pumping session are pretty slim.

@krsmall: Oh! Happy birthday!
@Mrs Green Grass: We do not pump and dump. We wait the allotted hours (and usually made sure I had some in the fridge in case he woke up before a la @cvbee's son.) Now, since I only have one drink or less and he's not a newborn (though doc said it was fine even then), I will feed him even with some alcohol in the milk. I know that is controversial but my doctor said it was fine. And it usually only happens once a month that he drinks shortly after I do (or while I still am).

@Mrs Green Grass: there's no need to pump and dump. I wait 2 - 3 hours after finishing a drink before I feed LO.
@pastemoo: thank you!!!

@pastemoo: good idea to make sure there is pumped milk in the fridge in case baby all of a sudden wakes up off schedule!
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@TurtleDoves: honestly I think I have thrown out way too much because of this. still worth it for a beer or cocktail.
