Show me what you brought your baby home in! I looked through a few of the older threads but thought maybe some new inspiration was due. We are having a little girl in early September - live in the south so it will still be warm out. I think I have narrowed it down to this floral kimono set and tiny white bow...

Adorable! We have a very similar boy version from RL. But I'm not due until December so I'm holding off until warmer gear comes out for the coming home from the hospital outfit. I really want a one piece cable knit sweater typer of outfit in cream. We'll see if anyone puts out something like that!

I'm trying to find an outfit too. I want her to wear something white. I don't know if she needs something on her legs like leggings or if a dress with a blanket on top is enough? I'm so clueless! It will still be warm (mid 80s) when she's born.

Commenting to follow! We are wondering what to do for this also. I wanted to do one of those little cotton gowns but it occurred to me that might impair buckling the car seat harness properly??

@Mrs. Pickle: I think if it's that warm out you could get by with just the blanket on top and socks. Then again this is my first so I'm a little clueless, haha!

@wrkbrk: I was going to do a gown at first but then was cautioned that it would in fact get in the way of the car seat buckle. I also read two blogs that said they got the side eye from nurses bc of it, ha!

and I ordered a little pink and a blue kimono top/pant set from Burt's Bees but I'm worried their 0-3 might be too big and they don't have a newborn size. I do have an alternate grey outfit packed that is smaller just in case.

@Mrs. Pickle: we had planned to take our LO home in a gown but then I realized we couldn't buckle her into her car seat very well with that long gown on, and also didn't want the buckles against her bare legs in case they would cause an abrasion. So perhaps something with leggings or at least short legs would be good for that 1st ride home. Just a thought...

@Bluemasonjar: We received this as a gift and it's newborn I have a back up option that is 0-3 m just in case she surprises us and is bigger than we expect! The back up option is a lavender and white snap onesie. I really hope she ends up getting to wear the floral kimono though

DS 1 wore a blue and white striped Ralph Lauren outfit and I'm thinking about having Ds2 wear the same thing as a going home outfit. I can't decide if I want him to have his own or wear the same thing! I found a few pictures...not the greatest, but you get the idea.

I am not sure yet for DS due in August! I have a lot of cute zip-up NB sleepers, so I'm thinking about one of those... but I wonder if a long sleeve footed sleeper in August in Florida is gonna be too hot?!
My mom also found a little outfit at a consignment sale for super cheap, but it's pretty "fancy". Kinda looks like this:

Except it's kind of a plaid print. I would ordinarily not do something so fancy but I don't know when else my NB is gonna wear a fancy outfit, lol.

@MrsADS: My DS wore something like that (Feltman Brothers bubble outfit) coming home in NC right after Labor Day. I like the smocked/southern look, though, so I wanted to have a keepsake outfit like that. It was definitely appropriate for hot summer weather!

@Jape14 I like the look of it too. I wouldn't have shelled out for it but I think my mom got it for $3 so if it doesn't work out, no biggie. And the pictures will be so cute! I think I'll probably bring a onesie/pants combo as a backup. I am just afraid the footed, long sleeve sleeper is going to be too hot in the car.

For LO #1, she was wearing the same white dress I wore coming home from the hospital 33 years before. I'll probably put the same dress on Lo #2, or they'll wear these matching dresses I asked my mom to make.

It says "after every storm there is a rainbow of hope, here I am!" It was a little big, but she's our rainbow baby! Plus, they gave us no warning that we would be going home so soon, so we didn't have a chance to buy something particular.

It was December so he just wore a little Carters onesie and pants set, and he was under the carseat cover. I might have gotten more into it if it was warmer!

@Torchwood: Love your outfit. That does make me wonder if I should get 'Worth the wait' onsies, but should I get newborn or premie size?
The other alternative is just getting some coordinating onsies in both premie and newborn sizes and returning the ones that don't fit. I should go to Carter's or another baby clothing store to find something. I looked in Target but didn't see anything that stood out.
ETA: Or I can see if I can DIY the 'worth the wait' onsies. All I need is t-shirt transfer and buy premie and newborn sized onsies. Maybe I'll do that. Trying to save some money where I can. Hehe

@bluestriped bee: That one she had on is 0-3mo, and she is still in newborn size. So unless the babies come out *really* small, you could always just do newborn and let it be too big.

Right before we left, my MIL surprised us with a hand-knit yellow wool sweater that my husband wore home from the hospital. It was made by DH's grandmother...so we then had to put the sweater over everything. (The hand-me-down was sweet, but there was absolutely no acknowledgement of the fact that it was a sudden surprise, he already had an outfit, and it was not appropriate for the season/weather)

We brought newborn and 0-3 mos clothes and he wore the newborn home at 8lbs. It was a long sleeve onesie and little pant set from carters. It wa summer and warm hear but the hospital was fairly chilly. As soon as we got him home we stripped him down, it was pretty warm!

Here is what we picked as her coming home outfit for just a couple weeks from now! I found the romper at Old Navy. It's newborn size but looks kinda big to me. The cashmere booties are from a friend and our Hypnobabies instructor knitted the hat!
