I have never been to H & M nor shopped there. LO was given a gift card for his bday and I wanted to get some pants for him. I wondered if they are true to their sizing? LO mostly wears Jumping Beans, Carter's and Gap and I feel that they are true to their sizing. LO is 30 mos old and on the skinnier side. He wears 2T for tops and 18 or 24 mos for shorts and pants. Any input would be greatly appreciated as there isn't a H & M store near me and I would hate to return items and pay for shipping.

I find that H&M stuff is big. D is 14 month old and still wearing 9-12 month clothes from there - the pants have PLENTY of room (both in the waist and the length), and the shirts are just now fitting appropriately. And we cloth diaper, so pants (like Carter's) are usually tight in the butt. But I don't find that with H&M at all.
ETA: For comparison, D is on the smaller size - 2% for height and 24% for weight.

I've found their kids stuff runs really big. M is 15 mo and wears 9-12 in H&M. I found a dress from last summer that looks like it will fit her this year and it's 6-9 mo!

@BunnyDragon: oh man...they are all over the place.
We have TONS of pants and my son usually wears a 12m pants, but there he wear a 9-12m pants with the cuffs rolled up.
I will give them this much: there sizes are extrememly generous ebcause their pants almost ALWAYS come with cuffs to cuff up (like, it's sewn in and cuffinf it looks good) and always have those waist adjusters.
I'd say go down in size or lean towards the smaller in-between size because they run large and they also are created in a way to be forgiving in size.
As far as tops go, they've been really true to size, again maybe a tad large. Then again, my baby has a big-o belly, so he was 18m on top and 12-18m on bottom (he's 18m). -

I think it's huge. We were gifted an outfit in size 2-4 (?) and I think it's more like 4T.

DD is growing out of her Carter's 18 month stuff. Fits perfectly in BabyGap 18-24. Today she is wearing a 9-12 month H&M outfit. The pants are a little big in the waist and would be too short if I pulled them up, but as they're big they sag a bit. The onesie fits, but not for much longer. The dress will probably last us a few more months.

Hmm, I don't think it runs that big. My son is 3 and tall/heavy. I buy 3-4T pants and 6T tops. My baby is 3 months and average size for height and weight and currently the sizes correspond to her age more or less correctly.

My almost 3 year old is wearing 18-24m pants, and he still fits into the 12-18m pants in the waist. The good thing about most of their pants is the adjustable waist. Even if it is a little big, just cinch the waist and roll up the pant leg. He is on the smaller side, and H&M has been the best to accommodate his body type and look good.

I'm in Sweden and it took me awhile to figure out the sizing for local brands like H&M.
If you're buying online: My suggestion is to look at the sizing chart and compare it with how tall your LO is. That's actually how clothing is sized here, by length and not by age like it is in US baby sizes.
Here's an example of one of their labels (from one of LO's hoodies):
EUR 92
US 1½-2Y
CA 1½-2A
CN 90/56
MX 92
AUS 2Size 92 means 92 cm long, so it should fit a kid that's 92 cm. Versus Carter's sizing (for example), 6m would mean up to 6 months, so if you have a 6 month old, it barely fits.

My son is in 18-24 in old navy and gap but 9-12 h and m! Just got him a few summer things in 12-18. He's 22 months but probably only 24 lbs and 33 inches.

Pants and sweaters ran about a size big for us (and E's usually a size ahead for his age) and regular tees ran true to his one-size ahead of normal size, if that makes sense.

It runs huge for us. LO is true to size in Carter's as well. To give you an idea, I bought H&M sleepers in 2-4 month. They fit my 18 lb 9 month old perfectly.

Almost always runs big.
DS is BIG/ahead in other brands...babygap, boden, carters, etc. and he fit into a 3-6 month sweater from H&M at 12 months+!
the pants run one size big for us, the tops run two size big.

Runs big. LO IS 15.5 months and still can't wear the cute 9-12 pants I bought her! She's pretty tiny though.
