They are pretty far apart and traffic can be terrible between the two; where are you staying for the longest period of time?

We’ll be in Hampton Bays for 4 nights and Montauk for 3. We have a wedding in Montauk so we’ll have less free time there.

Ahh gotcha. You’ll want to familiarize yourself with which beaches are open to the public if you don’t have a resident parking pass. A lot of the beaches in the hamptons are notorious for being totally locked down from the general public. Some allow non residents to purchase day passes. If I get a chance during nap I have some reccs for montaulk but mainly sag harbor and Southampton.

We love the Hamptons!
For Hampton Bays, we love Dockers for dinner. Good food and it's a beautiful place to watch the sunset, by the water. Cowfish is fun, but gets VERY BUSY for dinner time so go early. There's a little outdoor play area, which will keep little ones entertained. Rumba is the sister restaurant to Cowfish and you can take a "rum boat" over to it from Cowfish. It's super fun to boat over, but I like the food at Cowfish better. We also like Canal Cafe and Oaklands.
Cupsogue Beach, at the end of Dune Road in Westhampton was only $15 to park and get in, which is cheap compared to $50 in Southampton, for example.
For your Montauk drive, the place to stop and eat is called "Lunch" for their famous lobster rolls. The kids liked seeing the Montauk Lighthouse, but honestly enjoyed the playground across the street more.
They also love to mini golf out there. And we like going to Harbes in the North Fork. It's a winery with a huge play area for the kids so we can do some wine tasting and they can do some playing.
Have fun!

Westhampton (by Hampton Bays) has a very cute little town where you can get ice cream and walk around. Would also reco Baby Moon for pizza/italian there. And there's a farmers market on the weekends.
