I hope everyone who has a gun and children in their home will get one of these.

that looks pretty cool DH and I were watching Skyfall not long ago and Bond was given a gun that would only fire if his hand was holding it. I asked DH how soon it would be before something like that was on the market.

That is cool- although I don't like the fact that it requires charging - I would forget and then when I went to grab it .....ooops the battery is dead and wont open!

This is seriously amazing!!! What an awesome product. I would definitely buy one of these for DH's handgun!

@Mamaof2: It seems like you can keep it plugged in at home, but it has a battery in case you want to bring it in the car/with you somewhere.
You can even use it to charge your other devices! I like that it wouldn't end up just taking up space (it is the kind of thing you hopefully rarely use) since it has multiple uses.

Definetley cool, if we were to et a handgun (we've been talking about it.) I would want something for sure secure. I also saw one on 20/20 special that had 5 buttons on the outside that you can hit the sequence quickly to remove the weapon. If we do get one, safety is my number one priority.
I grew up with guns in the house, we knew the rules, they were imbedded in our brains. We NEVER messed with them even though we knew where they were. This will be the same with my children.

@LuLu Mom: That's what we have - you hit a sequence of buttons - still makes me nervous thought that my kids could some how accidently hit the right sequence..... my DH says no way!

@Mamaof2: How many digits is the number? Say it's 7 digits and your kids somehow got the number by randomly pressing buttons that would be like them randomly hitting numbers on a phone and calling your MIL.

We don't have guns in our home but I think this is a great idea! My dad and brother hunted when I was growing up - with a safe that you needed a combination for and drilling safety rules in our heads and everything. Well, that didn't stop my brother from thinking he was a badass who needed pay attention to get the code when my dad was getting the guns out, show off the gun to all his friends before our parents got home, and POINTING IT AT MY FREAKING HEAD when I got scared and called my mom to tell her what was going on. Thank god it wasn't loaded, but that is my lesson that no matter how much you have taught your kids...you don't know what might happen when you're not there. make it so they have no access to the guns! After that my parents changed the code and he wasn't allowed in that room when my dad was opening the safe.

@LuLu Mom: We have that gun safe right now!
Well ours has 4 buttons on the top, and they are lined up with your fingers. You can have a code up to 8 digits in length. Right now ours is only 4 digits, but once we have kids, we are definitely going to make ours 8!

I think that is a really cool idea. I like the idea of needing a fingerprint to open the safe!
We have a handgun and we've been discussing how we're going to secure it when we move home (its with a friend, since we couldn't bring it to the UK).
