I don't know what is going on with C at bedtime. Ever since we got home from Christmas travels on Sunday, every night she absolutely freaks out after we put her down for bed.

She is 5 months. For over a month, we have been putting her down awake, following the same routine, at night and she puts herself to sleep. She'll fuss or at most cry or whimper for a few minutes, then go to sleep. Same for naps. Even while we were away, she was able to put herself to sleep without a problem.

Ever since we got back, she has been just crying and screaming after we put her down. At first I thought she was overtired, or adjusting from the time change, or adjusting to being back home. But she is napping fine (putting herself to sleep), sleeping OK once she is down, and just so, so unhappy at night. She is fine when I put her down, fusses for a few minutes like normal, then the screaming starts. We have resorted to nursing or rocking to sleep, after doing CIO a month ago, because we can't listen to her cry like that.

I've been suspecting teething all week, could that be mostly affecting her just at night? I really hate to undo the sleep training that we did, but I also cannot let her cry in that distress so I don't see what else we can do. Anyone else experience this?

After we rock or nurse her to sleep, she sleeps pretty much like normal (1-2 wake ups to eat, goes back to sleep no problem), though last night she was up extra times.
