I don't know anything about it, but have you considered that if she doesn't start kindergarten at the school she'll be attending for the rest of elementary school, she would then be going into first grade as the "new kid"? All the kids who started kindergarten together would already know each other, so she wouldn't be part of that initial time when everyone is meeting each other for the first time, forming friendships, etc. Personally, I'd deal with an extra transition earlier on instead of that, but maybe that's because I had kind of a rough experience switching schools when I was a kid.

@mediagirl: My DD who is almost 3 is in preschool at a Kindercare. Once she's old enough she'll be going to their kindergarten because she misses the cutoff for our public K. So she'll do 1 year of K at Kindercare, and then another at public school the year after.

At our center I have heard great things about the program, and the biggest plus is that class size is really small (since not many kids stay for private if they can be going to public school for free!) Right now for example, the K class only has 10 kids. We've been at the center for 1.5 years and I've been super impressed with the curriculum they teach and the things my daughter comes home talking about!

That being said, if we had the option to put in her in public and pay $$$ less, I definitely would do that! I get what you mean about so many transitions, but everyone entering kindergarten is going through a transition as opposed to in 1st grade she'd be one of the few getting used to it.
