Because that happened to us today... Tell me it happened to you, too?
My lo was climbing a ladder type thing, let go and fell 4ft to the ground. Ugh. She was fine, just shaken up and her back hurt a little.
If anything good came out of this, she learned the consequences of letting go. She would do that with us spotting her and we always tell her she has to hold on. Today I was watching from the bench.

I fell off a swing set when I was 5 and landed spread eagle on tbe the ladder (it was a metal playground). I ended up severely hurting myself and spent years in and out of the OB/GYN. Thank god it had no effect on my reproductive ability.

Not yet, but the playground structures around here have so many drop offs, I have to pretty much shadow her the whole time (she's only 21 months). My friends son, same age, very nearly walked off an 8 foot drop off the other day. She has super fast reflexes and caught him but it was really scary.

@Foodnerd81: same aged LO, same deal at nearly ALL of our local parks. She doesn't want to play on the "toddler" structures, anymore, because their slides are only as long as she is tall. So, instead, I just shadow her on all the death traps.

@deerylou: it's exhausting! There is a park further away that has a nice big play structure with hardly any drop offs, but it's a much longer walk...

Glad she is ok! DS fell about 4ft as well. So scary. Luckily he was ok too.

My son fell off of a play structure and broke his leg (while at school). I've been anxious about play structures since then, and always spot him.

I worry about this because at almost 3, she can really do some damage. The other week, she climbed up the back of the couch (we were sitting next to her) and freefall backwards onto the cushions. Holy ...
