DD1 did once with me when we flew home for thanksgiving. DD2 is almost 17 months and has never flown on one. I am hoping to get a long weekend beach trip in, maybe I should aim for before she turns 2 so I can take her as a lap infant??

Yup, twice (there and back) from Seattle to Philadelphia at about 4 months.

DS1 has... he's been to NYC (2x), Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head. First time flying was at 8 months.
DS2 hasn't yet, but our family trip will be in early March when he'll be 8 months as well.

@mrsjyw: lol your son has flown more than I have in like the past 6 years. Lucky kid!

My kids have flown too many times for me to want to think and count

Bennett has flown to England twice, and Vegas twice. I think the pace is going to slow down though, both because we'll have 2 kids to wrangle and because the older he gets the harder it is to keep him entertained through a flight.

A few times in utero and a short flight once when she was 18 months.

Yes, they flew to Texas where my parents live last summer. They're going to be flying there again in February, too.

Yes. A lot. She first flew at 7 months. We also took a 14 hour flight (one way) to see the Inlaws at 11 months.
nectarine / 2521 posts
We fly every 3 months to see our in laws and visit, and we've taken 3 family vacations since he was born, so over 10 times in 2 years. Not too shabby since I was 16 when I took my first flight.

A lot for his age (9.5 mo): x2 to the East Coast, x1 to the West Coast, x1 to New Zealand via Australia, and return for all of them. It works out to be 17 flight segments because I'm a nerd and saved all his infant boarding passes! First time flying was at 2 months + 1 week.

She's been to Atlanta twice and will be going to Florida in a couple of weeks.
grapefruit / 4418 posts
At least 10 trips in the past two years. She's been flying since 7 weeks!
persimmon / 1355 posts
Yeah tons. It's harder now that she's two, and we have to but an extra plane ticket.

I just counted - apparently 12 times by 16 months? That's crazy. First (and easiest) was at 3 months - she slept the whole time.

Twice (both round trip) to two different out of state weddings two weekends in a row when he was 22 months.

Neither of my kids (3.5 years and 11 weeks) have been on a plane but neither has DH! Everyone we travel to see is within driving distance. We even drove to Florida last year from the Midwest! We'll see if I ever get DH on a plane.
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
Yes, so much. She's logged a ton of miles - Korea 3x, Cross country at least 3-5x, Chicago, California... She's a champion flyer now!
pomegranate / 3113 posts
I think 5 round-trips? Most had connections, too, so she's been on more flights than actual trips. She just turned 2...I didn't take my first flight until I was 16! But we live across the country from my family and halfway around the world from DH's, so there's not much alternative.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
Yes DD1 has twice, once to Palm Springs and then also with DD2, the one time she has flown, when we went across the country to Disney World last Summer.

Yes both of my kids have flown quite a bit. My son gets really excited and asks all the time when he gets to go on a plane again. It's another 6 weeks or so, so how do I explain that to a 2y9m old?
pineapple / 12566 posts
My older one has flown many, many times. He has been to 4 continents. My younger one hasn't flown as much as my older one, but she has been to 3 continents.
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
Quite a lot! But not in the last year. We're headed for our next trip in a few weeks. She'll be 3 in April.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Hmmm probably 6-7 times? We have gone on big international trips when she was 7 mo, 19 mos, and 2.5, then smaller trips to DC and Toronto a few times to visit family.
nectarine / 2243 posts
Started at about 10 weeks (solo flight), and we have flown 4 more times since. She's 10 months. Generally they have all gone well
honeydew / 7917 posts
No. Food allergies makes travel more difficult. Instead we take a lot of road trips. Easier to predict and pack food accordingly. Traveling in the air makes me nervous.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Yup! He took his first flight when he was 4/5 months old? And flew a handful of times by the time he was 1. He flies at least once a year. He loves riding on the plane and I'm surprised how well he does on them. He'll even buckle his own seat belt.
Hoping DD will be as an awesome of a traveler as her big bro!
