Has your baby every had a rough night and refused to nurse?
Zoey is usually a good little eater and is used to being nursed to sleep. Tonight she absolutely refused and screamed whenever I brought her to my breast. My husband ended up giving her a 2oz bottle and she downed it like a champ and went down easily (with a little bit of rocking and straying from our usual bedtime routine).
What happened?!

Yup! Nursing strike. How old is she. Mavrick was 3 months when it started and unfortunately for us he never really went back to the breast. I was done pumping at 4 months

Mine did that the first couple of days at daycare. I think she was so overtired and/or overstimulated that she just didn't know what she wanted. It made me sad, but now she's back to preferring the boob again.

She is 4 months tomorrow. She'd never done that before and I hope it's a one time deal. I enjoy spending that time with her.

Our first nursing strike was due to an ear infection. Once cleared up he went back to nursing like normal. Laying on his side hurt him so we had to bottle feed during that time.

This may be a silly question but how do you know if your baby has an ear infection?

Yes and just like hen it is time for solids he doesn't get anything else. When he's hungry I offer the boob. Bottles are less work and so we tried to avoid that being a preference.

@miranlee: for an ear infection, your baby may or may not get a fever. they also may pull or scratch on their ears. but it can be hard to tell so your baby may get one and you won't even know if it goes away and you don't detect it.

Some babies don't like to nurse when they are teething (and some nurse more often). If you suspect teething is the reason, you could try some comfort measures like a frozen washcloth or teething medicine before you feed her.

@miranlee: Our son started getting ear infections by 4 months, which was before he could pin point pain locations so he didn't pull at his ears. For us, the signs were similar to a cold, runny nose, cranky, fever (around 99-100), flare in eczema. Mostly, you'll have to have your doctor take a look and diagnose it.

Mine went through this. At first it was because of a cold, and I think it was just really uncomfortable to nurse bc he couldn't breathe through his nose. When the cold was gone he was still not wanting to nurse. Lasted about a week or two and them everything was back to normal. Hang in there!

Yes, we've had a few- early on in the middle of the night, he wouldn't nurse unless I wore a nipple shield. Also around 12 weeks old we had the Sunday from hell where he nursed first thing and last thing that day, but would only take a bottle in between. I was an absolute basket case!
Hang in there, like most things with babies- hopefully it will pass soon!
