I need some help / support / ideas of what to say to our daycare director when I go in to meet with her today! My husband is 1,000 times better at confrontation, I am awful at it but I'm the one who is available so I get stuck with the meeting.

Here is what has happened - my kids both have food allergies, DS (20 months) to milk and DD (4) to peanuts.

Snack time in the toddler room earlier this week was cheese and crackers, and DS got a hold of someone's cheese and ate a tiny bite. He broke out into hives, and we didn't find out that it happened until we picked him up. My husband emailed the director and told her we need to be notified immediately if something like this happens, and that they should just give him Benadryl if they see a reaction to be on the safe side.

Thought we were in the clear / things would be better and then today I found out DD's teacher has been sharing a muffin with her in the morning, which is from a store bakery and is 100% not something safe for her to eat. While yes, it does not have peanuts IN it, it's manufactured with them, and her allergy is severe so we avoid all that stuff. Daycare is actually peanut AND nut free, so I feel like teachers should not be sharing food with ANY kids, nevermind a kid with allergies. When I talked to the teacher about it she said "oh I thought it was fine", I made it clear it wasn't and as I was walking out of the room heard her say "Sorry, (DD), sometimes Mommmy's are no fun". Um WTF. You gave my kid something she can't have and now it's my fault she's upset?

I feel like in general some teachers just don't take the food allergies seriously. I get that if you don't have your own allergy kid you might not understand how serious we take it, but if you are a teacher and taking care of my child you should either GET IT or just not give them any food you aren't sure about.

I don't really want to throw the specific teachers under the bus when I meet with the director because I'm worried they will then treat my kids differently...but at the same time these two specific people I feel like are just don't take allergies seriously.
