@Arden: I know tons of people that cross the border to grocery shop. It's much cheaper in MI

I've been to Vancouver, Montreal and Quebec. Love, love, love Canada, though I wish the exchange rate was more favorable when we were there.

@.twist.: Well I heard of some sort of invention called the car eh? Not sure how it works. Runs off of some sort of gasoline.

Well I live here, so yes! It's awesome, you all should visit and I can ensure that there are not that many igloos!

I have been to Montreal and Vancouver. The Vancouver trip was for the Olympics and I LOOOOOOVED it. Big puffy heart loved it. I would love to go back with hubs and baby for vacation.

I've been to Canada three times: Quebec City for my high school senior trip! Oh my that was so amazing. Especially because I was 18 and we got to go to clubs. We went to this club called Dagobert and all these French Canadian guys were trying to dance with me.
I've also been to Toronto (loved how clean it was, except for all the homeless people) and the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.
I love the places I've been to. I want to go back to Quebec City during winter and I want to go to Montreal.
The taxes were surprising but it made sense.

@Lindsay05: hahaha. We're a bit behind the times, eh?
I live here, so yes! I have! Travellers, don't forget about Calgary, Alberta, it's nice here too! And Banff is super close!

Hubby and I went to Vancouver 2 years ago, and it was one of our fave trips! We went up to Whistler, and absolutely fell in love with it!!

@mrsjazz: I haven't been to QBC in years, we went for my 8th grade school trip and it was awesome.

@prettylizy: At first my class was not happy about going to Canada on our senior trip because we all thought it didn't really count as an international trip, but Quebec City definitely felt like we had traveled to a far away land :).

Just a suggestion to my foreign neighbours on a trip idea... come visit Montreal during sugaring off season (End of February and March). There is a great sugar shack around 25 minutes from Montreal called "la sucrerie de la montagne". It's AWESOME! I've been going there since I was a child.. and I was actually married there! Be prepared to eat A LOT if you go!

@.twist.: I grew up in Calgary, but moved to TO for school...my parents just moved back to Ontario, and I'm already missing my Alberta home base! No quick trips to the mountains for me

@tinyperson: I know it's not spectacular, but I really love it here and we are (I believe??) the 3rd biggest city in the country and everyone seems to either not know about us or forget about us. LOL.

No, but I really want to!
And in my imagination you're all sitting in your igloos eating poutine and apologetically gloating about your healthcare

@mrsjyw: DH was a bouncer at a popular American bar DT Windsor in his youth. Things got rowdy EVERY weekend!

@.twist.: @prettylizy: HA! I KNEW IT!

Yup, when I lived on the east coast, I went a couple times with my parents. I believe we crossed near Buffalo, NY.
Now that we live on the west coast, we travel to Vancouver about a couple times a year. We love Vancouver.

Yep! Toronto (love!), Quebec city, Montreal, & Halifax. We were surprised that it was less expensive to drink in a bar than to buy alcohol & serve ourselves in Halifax!

Lots and lots as your drinking age is much lower than in the US. Ha, I haven't heard any one use the word toque in like 10 years.
bananas / 9899 posts
@MrsH: I think 21 as a legal drinking age is waaay too late! It always made sense to me that you become legally an adult at 18, so you should be able to drink at 18.

@.twist.: Sorry dude, you're 4th or 5th, depending on which wikipedia article you look at. Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and maybe Ottawa are still bigger.
@FutureMrsMcK: Apologetically gloating about our healthcare. <=== nice.

LOL!! I used to live in Albany, NY. We took a few trips up to Montreal while I lived there. I think Canada is full of red light districts like in Montreal, right?

Lol. JK Ottawa bees.....

Oh Canada ! How I love thee. DH's job will have us moving quite a bit and my #1 request is always that it's somewhere in Canada.
I've lived here my whole life and can't picture living anywhere else. Maybe England or Switzerland?

Yup born and raised!
@tysonja: what are you going to get at TJs? Are you going to Bellingham?
