I would just go to the deli and buy it there... how unneighborly!
I just don't like to put people out. If someone asked for some sugar or flour though, I'd be glad to help them!

I've never borrowed, but we've had neighbors borrow ingredients, baking pans, bottle openers, hoses, etc.

Nope! The neighbours on one side are crazy hoarders, and the others are not super friendly, so I would rather just pop in my car and drive the 2 minutes to the store.

Our first apartment was a duplex type, shared entry but we lived downstairs and the owner lived upstairs. We borrowed things from her all the time and interacted with her a lot.

Yes. DH and I are very friendly. When people move in we introduce ourselves and welcome them usually. So it's tit for tat. We had one neighbor that we constantly traded items with too. I love having a sense of community, so we do what we can to create it.

No, but they help us take in the garbage cans after garbage day and take in the mail if we're away. We do the same for them.
