I haven't.
Sounds like fun though (not really). HAHA.

This makes me laugh. I grew up on a Christmas tree farm and was expected to work for the family business every weekend in December. I have cut down many a tree.
For those of you who have never cut down a tree, dress appropriately!! We always rolled our eyes at the people that showed up looking like they were headed to the mall. No hat or gloves, fancy jeans, and sneakers weren't atypical. These people had to wade through either mud or snow, depending on how cold it was, and so many of them picked the trees closest to the parking lot because they got cold in the first few minutes. Dress appropriately, people!

Dh cut ours last year and is going to again this year! It's so much fun trudging to the top of the hill just to find the perfect tree

Yep. Not gonna lie, it's way easier to just get a pre-cut one...especially when it's like, 10 below, windy, and snowy. Hahaha, ambition at its finest!

No, I grew up in Hawaii so the thought has never crossed my mind until recently. I want to do it some day!

Every year growing up we did this and it's one of my fave memories from Christmas as a kiddo. DH has never done it, so this year we're going as a family to cut our first tree together. I hope to make it a yearly tradition.

We cut down our own tree every year and I remember it fondly from my childhood! We would all pile into the car, drive for what seemed like hours into the country, walk through the snow to find the perfect tree at the Christmas tree farm and then my dad would chop it down and we would all grab some branches and carry it back down the hill. When we got back down to the farm, we would get mini candy canes and hot cocoa!

Yes, but only at Christmas tree farms, not random trees in the woods. I live in PA where Christmas tree farms are abundant and live Christmas trees are relatively inexpensive.

Nope, I have actually only had a real tree once. Living in hot dry Los Angeles makes me very weary of live trees. It might be also that the people down the street from us lost their whole house on Christmas morning when their tree caught on fire. It's a fear I can't get over.
Also the ecologist in me cringes just a bit at the thought of all those trees being cut down. I can't get over that either. I know I'm so irrational. My husband has come to terms with my artificial tree needs so that's what we have, the same tree each year

I grew up cutting down our tree with my family, so when Hubs and I bought our house, we started the tradition, too. We've decided not to get a tree this year, though, because Baby Boy will arrive right after the new year, and we doubt either one of us will have the time/energy to take the tree down. But we definitely plan to continue the tradition next year!

First time last year. It was fun but I didn't care for it much. My son loved it though so we'll probably do it again.

I grew up working on my Grandma's Christmas tree farm (which was right next to our home) so my job when I was little -which I can't believe my parents let me do - was to hand out rusty saws to everyone coming to get a tree!

No but I think it would be a fun tradition, we have a fake tree currently...

We cut ours down every year, but since we live in a national forest, it's on forest service land, not a farm. I love cutting down our own tree, even though it is a bit a of work to cart the babies along. I'll have to wear DS this year, and I guess DD will have to walk. We hike a lot, though, and our favorite tree spot isn't too difficult of a hike, so hopefully she'll be ok hoofing it on her own. Anyway, I love the smell of fresh pine, and fresh-cut trees last much longer, so I think we'll always cut our own tree (if we have a choice)!

No, we always had a fake tree. My husband and I have a fake tree now.

.....isn't that the only way to get a Christmas tree? I have cut down at least one every year of my life. I can't even imagine it being any different!

DH works for the forest service, so we've been cutting down our own tree from the woods for 6 years now. We're taking DS tomorrow for his first tree cutting excursion! DS is only 7 weeks, but I love this tradition so much, I want to include him immediately. I'd be so disappointed if we ever bought a pre-cut one. DH &i love the ritual, walking through the woods, finding the perfectly sized quirky tree, and warming up after in the truck on the way home. Plus it's free

Cutting your own down is the best We grew up like the National Lampoon Christmas Vacation..lol
Now that I live in a place where no x-mas trees grow, they are all pre cut
