If so, what cruise line did you go on? Where did you go? How much was it? Did you like it?
DH told me that's what he wants to do for his 30th in two years! J would be three years old, so not a bad time either!

@Mrs. Pen: I'll start saving now! We soooooooooooooo desperately need a cruise!
@mrsjyw: wondering why RC? We 've known ppl who've gone on both and they all prefer Carnival by far.

Yes we have! We went on a seven day Carnival Cruise in the Caribbeans. I actually.... hated it! It possibly had to do with the fact that I had morning sickness and didn't know I was pregnant. I just remember feeling like I was trapped on the boat and hating the food. I'm glad I got to experience it but I don't think I will be back on a cruise ship any time soon.

We took a Princess cruise last summer from Alaska down to Vancouver. It was amazing! I thought this would be a good cruising trip since you see things that you can't get to by car/foot.

I love cruising! I've been on Carnival and Royal Carinbean. I don't have a complaint with either cruise line. Carnival is a little more inexpensive though.
We're going on an Alaskan cruise next year with DH's fam next summer. I'm really looking forward to it. I'd love to do an European cruise one day too.

Yep, I LOVE cruises! Great value vacation! I've only been on Carnival, but thought about Disney and changed my mind.LOL It's only as expensive as you make it. The SAME cruise my sister and I took in 2010, was $2k total for both of us, is like half price last time I looked.

yes, went once and I would totally go again! We did Royal Caribbean, price was reasonable, entertainment was good, food was great (for a cruise)! I feel like cruises are great vacay with kids.

We cruise often on Carnival. They are very affordable, and we live very near a few ports. We book through cheapcruises.com and always find great deals. We tend to spend a lot on booze and gambling, so we try to find affordable cruises to make up the difference

yup! we've done two carnival cruises together and i went on a celebrity one when i was younger. love them! last time we both got horribly sick and spent most of the time in our cabin, so that sucked, but i still think we'll go again. it can be a great economic way to see places you might not otherwise be able to go. if you live near a port, it can be soooo cheap! last time we went out of NY and just hired a van service to pick us up & drop us off 'cause it was cheaper than parking in NY for 8 days.

Love it! We cruise on Norwegian to the Bahamas and southern Caribbean.

DH and I took a 6 day cruise to Jamaica so we stopped at the Florida keys and Grand Cayman Islands on a Carnival ship.
Loved it! Though I would never go to the same places, they were awful. The whole thing including drinks and gambling and excursions was about 2k. Totally worth it

I cruised from Istanbul to Athens on Windstar Cruises. They're sailing yachts, and it was awesome! It's too expensive for me to do at this stage of life, but one day!

@Mrs. Pen: Nope. Never been. DH has been, though. Maybe next summer or something.

We took a carnival cruise for our honeymoon last March. It was $1000 for an inside stateroom on the 7th floor. It was my first cruise, DH's second. I guess I expected more? The food was bland, I wasn't impressed with the accommodations, activities offered, constant advertising the ship's jewelry store over the speakers into our stateroom early as hell and late at night, and overall wasn't impressed with the experience. I did however like hanging out at the different ports, so it served its purpose there. We went to Nassau (dirty and boring IMO), PR (cool port to explore but that was about it on the interesting scale IMO), Grand Turk (loved the beach), and St. Thomas (LOVED and would do a complete vacation there alone). The water was still cold at all of those places in mid March I'll add!
All that said, I would take another cruise! Just not carnival (and not just because of their current ship problems). I would opt for one of the more upscale lines. I've heard nothing but good things about Disney. When we have kids we are going to take a Disney cruise.

Royal Caribbean. I went with my mom for her 60th birthday. We visited Belize and Cozumel, Mexico. We had so much fun.

@mrs. pen: cruising is THE BEST.
We went on a honeymoon cruise.
$3500 after cost of the balcony room and expenses (booze, extras)
Princess Cruises - we took the Emerald Princess
Eastern Caribbean - Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados, St Kitts, St Thomas and the Bahamas.
It. Was. AMAZING. Even my heat hating husband loved it because it was so relaxing! We didn't have to do anything if we didn't want to. We could do lots of things if we wanted to. I loved it so much. We are planning (and saving for) an Alaskan cruise for our 10th anniversary.

@dc yoga bee: wow really? My two experiences were completely different than yours! I thought the pod was actually really good. We dream about some of the room service items. There was ALWAYS something to do or not do!
I guess everyone's taste are different.
I've heard the complaints you made about carnival made about RC from pretty much every person we know that's been on cruises. That they're more expensive bc you pay for the really nice ship. But the food is not good, service bad and booze $$$$!

Im not sure I can handle being stuck on the ocean with thousands of people. Not to mention making all the stops and the scheduling. DH and I are spontaneous travellers and prefer to travel alone!

I've been on a few Carnival cruises around the Caribbean. They were ok, but the one thing I don't like is the limited amount of time that you have at each location (like, hours). Other than that, it's great.

We went on a RC western Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon. 7 days, Spain, Italy and France and had an amazing time!!! I want to go on another cruise so bad!!

We did a Carnival cruise a while ago. 7 days in the Caribbean. Probably one of the most fun trips I've ever taken. LOVED it!!!
By the way, not sure if they still have them, but if you do a Carnival cruise, order a Kiss on the Lips. That drink is DELICIOUS.

Man do I LOVE cruising!! We've done norwegian and disney. Disney was really nice for a few reasons, super high end everything and they had an adults only 'Quiet Cove' pool that I really enjoyed (pre baby days!). Norwegian was awesome, and the cost was much less than Disney. Plus they don't have dinner seatings so you can make your own schedule. I've been dying to go again. Time to get DH on board!! HB cruise!!
