We've been seeing these huge, winged ants in our house the past 2 weeks or so. At first it was only one a day, but now I'm starting to see more - today I already found five :T So gross. Called a green pest control company and was quoted approx. $325 to treat our home. I'm sure the costs will all vary depending on location, but anyone know if this is an average price?
We live in the suburbs, and our house is approx 3,000 sq feet.

we just had our house sprayed today. it was $85 and we're on their quarterly plan. we live in a smallish college town. i know its safe for people/pets but probably not a green company. not much of that where we live! also our house is around 2500 sq ft.
ETA we aren't having any issues so i guess this is more preventative. not sure if that makes a difference.

@pinkcupcake: we have our house sprayed for ants and bees. We pay $425/year and it's broken into quarters.

We had carpenter ants (the big winged ones) over the summer and I think we paid $800 for a full years worth of treatment-- so the initial visit plus monthly visits to respray and ensure they stay away. It was with a big company but I forget their name. Our house is 2400 sq ft and in the suburbs.

We have a company come and spray year-round for roaches/bugs/general critters. We have a small house (1,400sqft) but it was around $200 for the first visit and then it's $80 quarterly.

Yes, for ours it's $250 for the intial spray and $80 every other month after that.

@Cole: I think ours are carpenter ants too. They are so huge - the first few I saw didn't have wings but the most recent ones do. I'm hoping it won't cost $800 to treat them:(
@Mrs. Jump Rope: $425/ yr isn't bad - this company quoted me $480/ year. Maybe I can try to find something cheaper.

We have a good sized backyard with a ton of ant Hills. The previous never took took are of the lawn. There are also also a ton of spider nests in the house. Before we moved in we had people come and spray outside and inside. They then came back a few days later to see if the traps they left for the spiders worked. We were not comfortable with them spraying the house.
They come quarterly now for preventative and if we we ever have a specific issue they come at no cost. it is about $34/m so $408/year.
