I am probably a total weirdo, but after my last OBGYN experience I've been nervous to find another. My OBGYN is great, but her back-ups are...not. The back up is who delivered C. I have consultation/Q&A appointments with two others and a midwifery practice before I decide on someone new! Am I crazy?
We didn't interview our ped though. I knew him from work, and knew we'd totally click with him. He's great!

Yes, I interviewed our ped! We sat down in his office and I asked him a bunch of questions. He was great about it.

No, but I probably would if I had had a poor experience like you had! I generally just change doctors if it's not working and no harm, no foul.

I absolutely have! I interviewed my nephrologist and we had a consult with a ped before we chose to use her group! I highly recommend it. Clicking with your doctor can go SO far in feeling comfortable with them and making sure you both are on the same page in regards to the kind of care you are looking to receive.

I absolutely would! I interviewed my endo doctor before I decided to seek treatment with her. Just make sure you don't have to pay OOP for each visit...

We interviewed our pediatricians - we originally had another, but got our current guy at a last-minute apppointment when our doctor was busy; loved him and switched!

Yes! I interviewed midwives.
I will be interviewing midwives next time around AS WELL as asking to meet their backup OB's.

Yes! I interviewed a midwifery practice as well as two MDs before deciding on my provider for my first pregnancy. I'm soooo glad I did, because the midwifery was my first choice before the interview, but I did not click with them at all.
I think it's ridiculous that some people think it's weird! These are huge life moments with a lot at stake. I'm not going to trust just anyone with my health, or the health of my babies.

I absolutely interviewed pediatricians, and I am glad I did. I didn't feel comfortable with the one that is technically closer to us, but I LOVED the one a bit further away and we ended up choosing them.
I also interviewed the midwifery practice before deciding to go with them for our birth.
I have not interviewed a GP or OB before, but I would consider it.

@Arden: I loooooove the back up OB for the midwifery practice! He's one of the two I'm doing a consult with, since I may end up just seeing him directly if our insurance won't cover the midwives.

I found my midwife practice (it's really a satellite clinic for a major regional hospital) via word of mouth from my SIL, but I did interview E's ped....went in with a lonnnng list of questions, lol.
I don't think it's weird at all!

@grizz: I didn't interview her, but since I'm having a repeat section, I covertly asked the anesthesiologists who the hack jobs were and who they'd recommend. Because no one knows better than they do. Sneaky!!

I interviewed me and my son's current family practice doctor!
I also did a tour/Q&A with the midwife I went to while pregnant.

@Espion: Ahhh, smart! I never thought of that! I just kind of listen to how different doctors treat their patients when they're doing rounds. Now I want to go ask our anesthesiologist who he likes

@Bookish: I knew my birth with C was gonna be a shit show after the OB read my birth plan and goes, "So... natural birth. You know you don't get a trophy, right? You just get a baby either way." GAHHH. Hate her. I am still undecided about #2... I told my husband I'd give him an answer in September I am excited you guys are thinking about a #2! Eeek!
