When Mrs. Bee gave birth to Olive, I didn't take any pictures of the baby until she was all cleaned up and had her diaper on... because I know there are strict laws around taking pictures of kids naked.
In retrospect, I regret that I didn't just take the pictures anyway. What was I thinking??

My husband took pictures of our naked son, and he was still gooey. Hehe. While I don't have any pictures of me seeing my son for the first time, I do cherish the photos of him before the nurses cleaned him up.

Husband took pictures galore when I delivered. He even got shots of the baby coming out of my pikachu. 
We have a bunch of pictures and video of our LO naked. Naked babies are SO cute! Esp when they have lots of fat rolls like our LO.

I do think it's a bit different with naked baby boys though... don't know if we'd have as many pictures of nakedness if we had a boy.

I'm not sure, but isn't there something in that law about intent? Like for it to be a problem the intent has to be for it to be used for bad things? I could be wrong...

It sounds so dirty when you say it that way (Have you ever taken pictures of a naked baby?), but yes, we have. We even recorded DD's first bath, in all her newborn glory.

I know there was issues with pictures of babies in the bath but I never gave a thought to newborns. I can't see how any of that would be remotely misconstrued as child pornography. In any case I can see how it is better to be safe than sorry.

Our birth was a little scary, so my husband was too focused on me and my not breathing that when they wheeled our purple baby past him he was too in shock to take photos. Needless to say, when he finally met the baby he already had a diaper on, so no nekkid photos. We may have a few naked photos, but always from the waist up or from behind where his little booty isn't actually the focus.

I just took some today while I was bathing her I specifically took pics of her cute little butt and chubby chubb thighs. She also has some from her birth.

I don't think it's an issue when it's personal snapshots. I had a professional newborn session too, and they often blog the naked newborn pics. Little baby bums everywhere! I think they're adorable. And again, when it's "art", I don't really see nudity as pornography. I think that's an American puritanical mindset. It's not like I'm posing my nude child in latex with whips and chains or anything.
