When I was little I had a cyst removed from my mouth. I've had two d&cs because of a miscarriage, and yesterday I had a nerve stimulator implanted in my neck which attaches to a battery pack in my lower back. Its supposed to help my migraines.
The d&cs were pretty easy. Physically at least, not emotionally. This one is not easy, its painful!
Have you had surgery? How was the recovery?

I had my tonsils and adenoids removed in 2nd grade., my wisdom teeth and appendix out in 11th grade, and my bones fused in my right foot when I was a senior in college, among countless hospitalizations.
I'd say the worst was my foot. The recovery was over 3 months and I had already dealt with a 3 month recovery from the fracture which happened 6 months before surgery. I'm still left with a plate and 5 screws and a foot that's structurally completely different from the first. For pain management I had a nerve block and morphine drip in the hospital which left me way off in lala land.

I had my tonsils and adenoids removed in first grade. Besides the feeling of a very sore throat, it was a pretty enjoyable recovery since my parents made me lie down all day and eat jello and popsicles.
Other than that, I've had a wisdom tooth surgically removed since it was coming in sideways.

I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was 12. Next week I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed. They are putting me all the way under for it thank goodness!

@artbee: not really. the closest thing was being put under for my wisdom teeth. i had a problem with the anesthesia the second time around so that was not fun. i hope your recovery is going smoothly!
ETA - oh, i forgot i had laser eye surgery, recovery was not fun either and i had to get it redone. ugh, surgery = not fun.

Good luck with your recovery, and I hope the surgery provides the migraine relief that you've been hoping for!
I tend to heal really slowly from things, which is part of why I'm dreading childbirth recovery.

I've had 4 knee surgries (2 on each knee) and 2 broken noses that resulted in surgeries. My first knee surgery was the worst (shattered knee cap) otherwise they were bareable.

I had glaucoma surgery when I was 6 wks old and also two cataracts (lens replacement surgeries) a little over a year ago. Also had 3 laser eye treatments in follow up to the cataracts surgeries. I have terrible eyes!

I had a double hernia repair as an infant. I obviously don't remember it!
When I was a senior in high school I had my jaw broken and realigned to correct a bite problem. I've got springs and screws in there to this day! It wasn't fun. My face swelled up to about a foot across. I literally screamed the first time I saw myself in a mirror afterwards.

Its so hard to sleep because my neck and left side of my lower back hurt, so I broke out my snoogle which helped a little. But I'm most upset that I can't pick lo up. This is going to be a long month

I had sinus surgery when I was 14 to clear out polyps. It was outpatient though. Oh, I also had my wisdom teeth out, if that counts.

Yep, 4. When I was 6, I went through a ton of tests to figure out why I was chronically constipated. At first they thought it was crohn's, but it wasn't. I had something really rare that didn't even have a name (in 1995). Over the course of a year, I had a ton of procedures done and I had 3 surgeries. I don't remember much about the first one, but it didn't work. So then I had to have a foot of my colon removed (it was stretched to the size of an adults) and I had a colostomy bag. It was pretty much the last resort and only had a 50/50 chance of working. Thankfully, it did! Three months later, the colostomy was reversed (third surgery).
About a year and a half ago, I had Lasik eye surgery.

I have only had one surgery and it was on my foot. When I was 15 or 16 I dropped a meat clever on my foot and I had to have the muscles/ligaments repaired because I cut them in half.

Yep- impacted wisdom teeth removal, a foot surgery on both big toes, an emergency appendectomy at age 9 and then, because it had gotten infected and healed wrong, another abdominal surgery to fix it at age 20. The abdominal surgeries were really hard recovery-wise. It hurt to move or laugh for weeks. I've also had a lot of scar pain from it during this pregnancy as my belly grows and the scar stretches. I thought it would be no different than someone who has a c-section scar, but my doc said the placement of a c-section scar is much lower and less painful.

@erinpye: o yeah! I got all 4 wisdom teethe pulled out! Forgot about that. Is that considered surgery? Because I forgot to mention that at the hospital when they asked about surgeries.

Tonsils removed, orthoscopic knee surgery, gall bladder removal and c-section. None of the surgeries were unbearable. The worst was probably coming off the anesthetic from the c-section, I had uncontrollable shaking.

I also had a cyst removed from my mouth, but mine was near my nasal passages and it was difficult to find anyone willing to operate. I don't remember much from the surgery, but the recovery/aftermath is the reason why I hate dentists!

I don't think I ever got surgeries even when I was small. I was sick a lot (not sure if that counts) and I broke my foot when I was 13 but that's about it.

@tequiero21: I was put under and all 4 were impacted so it was considered surgery, not just teeth pulling
