DH and I both didn't get braces.
Hope LO doesn't need them either!

Yep and I need them again!!!! Dh never had them, but both of us want invisalign

Yep, I did the whole braces thing. My husband's parents gave him the option of whether he wanted braces or not, and he said no (um, obviously, who WANTS braces?). His dentist said he didn't really need them so I guess it's fine, but he doesn't exactly have perfectly straight teeth. He has a little gap in his front two teeth too, but it's actually pretty cute.

I had them but my husband didn't. He would like to get them now though.

Nope! I was blessed with great teeth. Which is interesting because two of my brothers and my sister all had terribly awful teeth. somehow I got the good teeth.
My husband has a big gap in between his two front teeth, it's actually really cute. I hope LO gets my good teeth genes! Braces are expensive and ins doesn't cover much.
My poor little brother has the worst case of buck teeth I've ever seen and my parents can't afford braces

2 sets. I had awful teeth. Hoping LO has DH's teeth.... but we'll still probably start saving just in case.

I never had them as a kid; my parents couldn't afford them. I wish I could of had them as kids. Now that I have insurance, I have them now. Right now, I have bottoms. I'm suppose to get my top ones soon.

I did not have them and I think I would have rather had them that the tons of dental work I've had done instead. DH did have them.

@chopsuey119: I did have braces & although my teeth were not horrible, they weren't perfect & I had a slight overbite, so I am so glad I had them! DH has perfect teeth so maybe LO will take after him, but if they are even a tiny crocked we will be doing braces.

I did but I feel like I need them again. My teeth are fine, but they could be a little more perfect because I have some crowding on the bottom.

@sulli301: my teeth aren't perfect but I have a perfect bite. Ive thought about getting veneers or invisalign, my Dh says he likes my imperfect teeth..

Be both had them, mine weren't really for my teeth but to try to realign my jaw when I was young. DH just finished with Invisalign not too long ago.

Yup, both DH and I had them...it was almost like a rite of passage for kids in our neighborhood. I think almost everyone got them.

@miss-spunkin: a little bit of trivia for you, the gap is called a diastema.
I had braces in middle school, while DH didn't need them. Fingers crossed LO gets DH's teeth!

Yes and they didn't work, as soon as they were off my teeth were shifting within 2 years! I was very upset because I had them for almost 3 years.

I had them twice! Once in the 3rd grade, and again when I was a senior in HS. DH never had them. Either way neither of our mouths were that jacked up or anything lol!! Only reason I had them twice is because I didn't wear my retainer the 1st time around (I think i was too young, anyways...)

I had them, and could probably use them again. Hubs never had them and doesn't need them. He's also never had a cavity. I really hope our kids get his teeth!

Nope! Hops did. I had a weird retainer thing that was soldered into my mouth, though. My Mom had to turn it with a key every night while it was in there.

My sister and I both had bad teeth and had braces. My DH doesn't have the best teeth, but didn't get braces. I'm pretty sure our future LOs will need them.

DH and I both had braces when we were younger, and...I have them again now :(. and there is still the possibility that i will have to have jaw surgery after. I'm sure any LO's we have will need them, but I sure hope they don't inherit MY massive issues. DH has never even worn his retainer and his teeth are still perfect.
honeydew / 7589 posts
Nope! Neither did DH. We got lucky, especially him since his sisters have terrible teeth.

Both DH and I had them. Our siblings had them as well. Things aren't looking great on the teeth front for LO.

I never had braces when I was young. Before I got married, I decided to get Invisalign to fix a couple teeth. For a few months all my teeth were perfectly straight, but I would forget to wear the retainer and they all moved back. Kind of a waste of money! At least I had a nice smile in my wedding pictures

I could've used them, but I didn't get my 12 year molars until I was 19 - my mom wanted my teeth to come in before orthodontics. By the time my mom would've considered it, I was no longer on her insurance anyway. And I had bigger problems than slightly crooked teeth by that point. I do wish she hadn't been so stubborn when the teeth hadn't come in by 14.

I had them for three years. Had them put on two days before cheerleading tryouts in HS. Thankfully, I still made the squad lisp and all!

@bluestriped bee: I didn't know you had braces!
DH and I both had them. Poor DH had really messed up teeth and even now he could probably use them again, his orthodontist must have sucked. I had some just on the top for a short time. We are pretty certain LO will need them and will for sure get him braces.
@mrsjyw & @chopsuey119: I think Mrs. Bee talked about getting invisalign a few years back, maybe she can share her experience with you. I'd I remember right I don't think she loved them and they were really painful. I could be remembering wrong, though.
