Have you ever been part of a meal train or the recipient of one during maternity leave?
I heard of it the first time over a year ago through a mom friend. But otherwise I don't know anyone that's ever been part of one or on the receiving end. Seems popular with MOPS groups??

My church uses that website or Food Tidings every time someone has a baby, a medical need, or a death. I live in AZ.

My moms club does them for new babies. I'm taking dinner for one tomorrow actually! After DD2 was born, they brought me dinners Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the first month.

I'm invited to participate in one every time someone I know has a baby! There are different version, such as "Take Them A Meal," but they all work the same! I've set them up for friends, too.
ETA: We didn't cook for six weeks after DD was born. A friend had set up a meal train for 3 nights a week and IT. WAS. GLORIOUS.

Yes I have brought meals to a couple of new parent friends before, and my friend set one up for us when we had our first 2 months ago and it was amazing! Great chance for ppl to visit the baby and bring you some food!

My MOMS club uses them when someone has a new baby or occasionally if someone has another need. A meal train was set up for us after J was born and I have also participated in meal trains for others.

My MOPS group does it. I've received and donated. It was such a blessing having meals brought over (except for the time one of the moms never delivered).
Eta: we use 'take them a meal'.

MY friends organized one for me when I had LO1, and I've brought meals for friends since. My moms club also has a requirement that you participate in at least two meal trains a year. I just had one set up for impending LO2 and I'm stoked.

I have donated and received. It is WONDERFUL to have a few weeks of meals brought to your home during those first weeks with your newborn. Maybe it is a southern thing? I do not know. We are big on taking food to people's homes for lots of different reasons down here.

Donated and received! I think. We used mealbaby but it's an awesome idea. I think if someone sets it up for us again this time I'll try to stagger it out a little more. We had people coming too often and it was a little overwhelming between that and family in those first couple weeks.

In the South and we have received and also donated to several. They're fairly common here and tend to run a solid 3 weeks after baby comes home. I loooooved having people cook dinner for me every night.

Was on the receiving end of one last year when I had a stillbirth and SO THANKFUL for it. My poor 3 year old probably wouldn't have had too many healthy dinners if not for that.

My husband teaches at a small private school in Northern California and they set up one for us when my LO was born. I seriously didn't need to touch my freezer meals for like two weeks.

Received but not yet donated (my friends with kids live far away). It was amazing. I can't wait to bless someone else like that.

Our church does this. It's awesome! I've been a giver and on the receiving end and it is GREAT. The organizer always encourages people not to stay around (due to germs) and simply drop off, so most people do that. But some fellow moms stay to chat for a bit, and some offer to stay and eat together/watch the baby. It's such a blessing!

Received again after my second csection
We currently have one going on among my mom friends for our friend who just had twins (she has 4 kiddos now - none of them are school age)
ETA: I don't live in the south - I live in the Seattle area. It's fairly common here

Do you mean the actual branded online service called Meal Train? Or any time people organize to sign up and bring somebody food? If it's the latter, I guess I thought those were universal. My friends and I all signed up to provide daily meals to a friend who was hit by a car, I've signed up to take meals to everyone I know who has had a baby, my coworkers have done it when someone had a major medical procedure, and of course all my friends organized to bring us food after we had LO.

I've donated and received. They are great! Something easy for dinner/leftovers plus a quick friend visit in your house when it's still hard to get out....
I think they're big in military overseas communities too.
