By definition "Balayage is a French colouring technique that was developed in the 1970s. It’s a freehand technique where the colour is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or cap highlighting techniques. Balayage can be used in even the shortest pixie crop however the best results is in hair below the shoulders."

I think of it as a cross between natural highlighting and a less harsh ombre effect.... I couldn't get the full color in the IG pic, but the way that it flows from root to end gives it a really natural color and I don't have to worry about roots growing in, etc.!
