Were you surprised to hear Penumbra's true reason for going to the library?

I was! I love his enthusiasm for the idea of using technology to actually advance books instead of fixating on the harm that technological advances will do to them. Obviously he's primarily motivated by "breaking the code" but he excited me too.

What do you think of the idea of writing a Codex Vitae with all of the knowledge that you'd acquired throughout your life?

I am not sure if I'd want to! On one hand, it would be a great legacy to leave. On the other hand, what a humongous responsibility! I think that the pressure to make it spectacular and helpful would make it more of an anxiety-ridden chore for me than anything.
