My son was walking around (which is why I put this under toddlers), playing, when suddenly he fell into the doorway. Now he's hit his head countless times - after all, he is walking, unsteadily but determined - and normally we just sooth him and everything's fine. This time, though, he hit his temple, right at that visible vein.

It's been over half an hour. He's been acting normally after the initial shock but I'm still freaking out over it. The vein is still visible, purple looking. He has a huge lump on his head - my mother calls this a goose egg? He's been given ibuprofen in a bottle. He's playing, walking, flipping pages in books, dragging around his blanket, and being himself but I'm still freaking out a little. Call it pregnancy hormones.

His pupils are fine, I held ice on the lump as long as I could, he hasn't been sick or lost consciousness so why can't I calm down? Everyone I talk to (including two nurses) tells me that he's probably fine and I shouldn't worry. Just keep him awake (but it's his nap time and he's acting tired!) and play with him for a few hours. Anyone else experienced this? Did you take your LO to the doctor or stay home? When did the goose egg go away?
