I was born in Ohio but as soon as we moved to Maryland, my parents set out to make us Baltimore sports team fans. It worked. I'd like to start rooting for a "home" team here in NC. Since we really don't have a professional team in Raleigh or nearby (other than the Hurricanes) I figure, let's choose a college team to root for (and so we can buy cute shirts for our daughter to wear).
Who should we root for and why? NC State, UNC or Duke?

Lol, this the most calm and logical discussion of UNC/Duke I've ever seen. I suspect that when you pick one, you may find you have to stick to your guns about it...people get pretty heated about this
All my in-laws are Carolina grads, so go Heels! But, if you're looking to decide, go walk around campuses...see which one you like better, and go with that.

DH says no one in Carolina are actually Duke fans, Duke is made up of rich out-of-state kids. Real Carolinans are only fans of UNC or NC state. And FYI- he says the only Carolina is North. LOL

I'm a Duke alum, so clearly I have strong feelings on this...
(and @littlek: my DH is a North Carolinian and still cheers for Duke! Also, more students at Duke come from North Carolina than from any other state)

DH is a NC State fan, so my sister is dying for us to find out what we're having so she can get a head start on buying UNC baby clothes lol. When we got married, we got a ton of "house divided" things as wedding gifts.
