I bought a big purse at TJ Maxx to use as our diaper bag, and 4 mos later it is falling apart. Ugh!
It's time I bought a 'real' diaper bag, but I have no idea which one to get.
Here's my criteria-
- Under 100$ (if it's *really* amazeballs, could push to 120$, but it'd have to like, be made of rainbows)
- Gender neutral (as in your husband wouldn't mind carrying it)
- Either comes with or has room for a changing pad
- DURABLE!
Seriously, trying to choose one is giving me a headache! Help!

@Mrs. Yoyo: @Mrs. High Heels: I've been looking at the Skip Hop Via messenger bag but some of the reviews said the quality wasn't that great. How have y'alls Skip Hop bags held up?

@Bookish: I have the skip hip studio- which my husband will not carry so doesn't fit your criteria, but quality wise I have used it non stop, overfilled usually, and have no problems with it whatsoever.
Eta: C is only three months!

@Bookish: it lasted me two years then the seam on one of the front pockets started coming undone. I still think its a great bag though, and my husband had no problem carrying it around either.

I'm looking to buy a diaper bag for a friend of mine, so this is good timing! She told me that she likes the look of the Duo, but is concerned that the main pocket does not zip or snap shut... has this been a problem for anyone?

@PermaStudent: I had a Duo and never found it a problem that it didn't zip shut. I think there is a magnet on top that keeps it closed, but we always kept it so stuffed that it wasn't useable.
The best part of the Duo for us is that we could run it through the wash. The worst part is that it really wasn't that roomy. I also have a Studio, and that was a super sturdy bag but did get grimy, and not washable.

@PermaStudent: I have the Duo and have been really happy with it. There is a magnet that holds the two sides together when it is not too full and it works fairly well. I keep things that are valuable (wallet, phone, etc) in one of the zip pockets at the top to keep them separate from LO's stuff and easy to access.
I do keep it pretty full so sometimes it gets heavy but we have had it for 23 months and have really been happy with it!

I saw a dad with a Skip Hop bag yesterday with his sleeping baby girl while eating next to us at a restaurant. The most gender neutral dad oriented one I know is the BRU Columbia bag. DH picked it out himself.
