I want to get two maps for Charlie's room that look nice but aren't too pricey. One of the world and one of the US so we can show him where we've traveled and where his grandparents live.
There are soooo many maps out there. Know any good ones that come to mind?

I would try an education store. They usually have large maps an they are reasonable priced.

I have this scratch off map and love it. It's not TOO huge, but you do get to scratch off locations as you travel to them:

We got this laminated National Geographic one from Barnes & Noble for $25. They have them in the blue and green colors too.

I'll vouch for the National Geographic maps. They're really nice. DH framed the one @Leialou: mentioned (we got it unlaminated for like $5) and now it hangs in our bedroom/study. You might also try ebay or Etsy. I ordered a map of our state from an Etsy seller for cheap. The only issue is framing. The larger ones almost always require custom frames, and that gets expensive fast.

We have a few NatGeo maps, and I really like them all.
We just got a square canvas map of the US for DS's room from Target for like $30. It's great in that it has state names and capitols, and some thematic pictures, but it's definitely more kid-ified than the NatGeo maps.

Do you have AAA? You can get them for free from them. I get tons of maps for DS from there, cause he's always interested in looking at them.

Paper Source has really pretty ones, sort of vintagey. They are priced like their decorative paper do only a few dollars each. I'm planning to put one of the world in our nursery.

I just bought some nice laminated ones from Zulily for $16. The sale is over but if you did a search in their system, sometimes they have it.

We have the huge world one from IKEA...love it. The only thing is that the frame is kind of lightweight, so we're going to construct a wooden frame with a bit more stability for it.
