I'm completely undecided on a play kitchen for Prettybaby's first birthday gift. I've narrowed it down to three KidKraft kitchens, The retro red, the espresso and the natural wood. My criteria were gender neutral, made from wood not plastic, and would look okay in our upstairs living/dining room. So..... what would you pick?

I was going to get LO the espresso.. then decided she didn't need a kitchen. HAHA. maybe we'll get it for the kids after we move

I have the red one (but in white) and I really love it. It is smaller than I expected but I am glad since I didn't want anything huge. My only complaint is that it scratches easily but I plan on contacting KidKraft and asking for touch up paint. The marks aren't horrible but they happened when my husband was assembling (for three whole hours!). We got it for my daughter at Christmas so I can't vouch for long term durability.

I ALMOST voted different kitchen just because I'm in love with this adorable little one from IKEA and I want to get it for Cobi!
But it's not as big or elaborate as the ones your chose.

My LO got the ikea kitchen for Christmas and we love it because it's so simple.
Of the 3 you posted I love the espresso one! The backsplash and dishwasher are so fancy!

@Mrs. Pen: I toyed with the Ikea kitchen, but I LOATHE going into Ikea and DH hates it even more, so we decided to go with something that will ship to us. Laziness FTW!

I would pick #2 because it looks like the mini version of our kitchen. #1 & #2 are both nice - I would go with whichever one will look nicer in your space.. LO will love either of them.

The red is super cute and playful and the espresso is to die for and quite the dream big kid (adult) play kitchen.

I'm biased-- we have the retro red and absolutely love it!! I'd consider it in white as well but we just love the red and how it pops but doesn't look terribly kiddy. I think the natural wood with the primary color accents looks too kiddy, and the espresso is nice but looks a little bit bigger than I'd like.

We have the retro red and love it. The best part is all the doors! But the espresso one is super cute and it had a towel rack! Can't go wrong with either!

@prettylizy: As for Ikea, yeah, it can get nuts there but I went there on a Saturday (or maybe it was a Friday) about 30 min before they closed and it was almost empty! I couldn't believe it. I was able to get in and out so quickly!

@prettylizy: One other thing to consider: I think the espresso is bigger than the red, so it may last your LO a little longer.

I love the red one, they espresso seems a little too growup and I live play kitchens that look playful. They're all super cute though.

@luckypenny: I just looked and noticed that the natural wood one has a laundry machine... that would be useful @prettylizy... then prettybaby wouldn't have to go to the laundromat.

I want to change my vote to espresso, though, after seeing the pics from @kokobee and @mrs. yoyo !! So cute!! If you have the space I'd say go for it.
