Since your not done having LOs consider how you'd feel if you had a April baby which has diamond for the birthstone. For that reason, I would personally use all birthstones

All birthstone in case you have a diamond baby.

I would do all birthstone. I have a sapphire stacking ring (my "push present" - LO has a Sept birthday) and I stack my wedding ring (diamond band), engagement ring, then the birthstone ring and I love it!

@simplyfelicity: I LOVE this idea and definitely want to know details when you have them. I think #4 would be better for alternating but I like #1 for all birthstone.

@simplyfelicity: I love that idea! I bounced it off DH awhile ago but he already have me a pearl pendant for my June baby so I'm not sure I'll be able to convince him

All rubies! I have a right hand ring that alternates my and DH's birthstones. I'm going to get one of LOs to stack on top. I love birthstone rings.

I would do #4 and diamond mixed with birthstone. I have something similar and love it.

I like one and four, though I like the smooth metal in the last picture better than what looks like some texture or beveling in first picture. My wedding band is similar to the last pic, though I elected to have just a plain band on the underside (rather than stones all the way around).

I voted for alternating diamonds and birthstone, but that was before I read the comments, and I think others have a good point about a possible future April baby (I'm an April baby myself, and I always found my birthstone terribly boring.)
