@Jessiemuller88: I'm not on here much anymore, but just saw this and it's perfect timing, as this is the story of my life.

My one year old is obsessed, she will not stop climbing on the furniture, couch especially, and wants to dive off the back. They were home for daycare for the past three weeks due to covid closures/exposures there, and I feel like I have spent the entire time dealing with this. It makes it challenging at best to pay attention to my three year old, because I'm constantly having to grab her, sit her down, and say "couches are for our bottoms". Over and over and over....

I moved the coffee table against a wall so there is empty space in front of the couch, so if she does fall at least it wouldn't be so bad as if she fell on the corner of the coffee table. I would push the couch against the wall so she couldn't try to dive off the back, but unfortunately with our radiator there is not space.

This has been her thing for a couple of months. Since I can't remove the furniture from the room, the best I know to do is to just sit her down and say firmly "couches are for our bottoms." Over and over. She is slowly getting better, perhaps there is a better way I'm missing. I'm also pretty strict about not letting my three year old mimic this behavior or encourage it...

We have one tiny step down from the hallway into a room elsewhere in our house, and she is so cautious there because she fell at one point. But is a reckless little daredevil on the furniture because I think she just doesn't realize how reckless it is...

@Jessiemuller88: I have no idea how helpful this might be but I follow milestones.and.motherhood on Instagram- she's a pediatric PT and often talks about the proper way to teach kiddos to climb off things like a couch (urge them to roll to their belly, guide their feet to the floor, then offer less and less assistance until it's the natural move). Not helpful for a child insistent on being superman though

@Jessiemuller88: Teach him some skills like @Clementine12 recommended. Put some pillows around. He's not the first, nor will he be the last, child to do this.

My twins went through a long phase of climbing onto the dining table via chairs. We still have the dining chairs scattered around instead of fully stored at the table. It's a vestige from a year ago when that behavior peaked. I have an adorable of them both walking around on top of the table having the time of their life at age 1.5.

He'll be ok, and this is only a phase.

Also, maybe look into a Nugget?
