Where do you set your active LO when you need to cook or do things around the house? My LO is almost 8 months old and she despises the Pack n Play.
Do you use a play pen or play pen gates on the floor? I don't like wearing her while I cook!

I have a play kitchen in my kitchen which keeps her busy long enough to make a quick meal.

my sil uses what we call the corral for my nephew. she actually used it for both of my nieces too. it is awesome, and i plan on getting one. since he's in such an open space on the floor and surrounded by furniture he doesn't even realize/care he's locked up. the individual pieces of the gate come apart so you can make it larger or smaller depending on where you need it (i.e. large for living room play, small for on the deck by the pool).
i don't know the exact brand but it's similar to this one (but larger): http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=37

At that age I used the Bright Starts Around-We-Go in the kitchen. He loved it. Now he's 13 months and I've just childproofed to the best of my ability and let him roam.

She's not moving yet but I won't be using play gates. Something about putting gates around the baby I'm just not fond of....

@regberadaisy: I used to say I didn't want to put my baby in a playpen because it was like a cage.... but then when she starts moving and there's no way to completely childproof everything around you and you need to get things done all you want to do is keep your baby safe and in one place while you make lunch! Maybe you'll find another way.... but never say never when it comes to babies

My nanny-LO goes in the graco tot block pack and play. She loves it! It's a lot more room than the traditional PNP. They actually bought me the same one for my shower & I can't wait to use it!

@artbee: very very true! Especially since it seems like M will be a very active baby. We'll see. My mom watched my niece & nephews (1wk apart) at the same time and did just fine so I hope I can do the same with just one baby!
