Help! I'm getting my first tattoo tomorrow and I don't know whether I should put it on the back of my calf or the outside. Tell me what to do!

@Mrs. Goose: @josina: @SugarMaple: @ladybee: @Mrs. Tiger: @wrkbrk: Thank you all! I think I'm going to go with side. It was what I pictured originally and then a few people mentioned the back and I wasn't sure. But I want to see it and the side will definitely make it the most visible for me.
@wrkbrk: I have always liked the tree of life designs. I was killing time during T's visit with his mom a few weeks ago and looking at tree of life tattoo images. The one below came up and I just fell in love. I knew it couldn't be a tattoo as is because it was way too complicated and busy. So I asked a local artist to simplify it and make it "tattoo friendly" and the image in the original post is what he came up with. And I love it too! It will have color similar to this one, I probably should've mentioned that.

@wrkbrk: Oh, and T is being reunited with his mom in a few weeks, so I wanted something that reminded me of him and O together. Which is the reason for the kids swinging. And I like to think the bird flying away is my grandma who passed away in February who I was super close to.

@Mrs. Turtle: I LOVE IT!! Cannot wait to see it completed. I am sorry about T. But you've done a wonderful thing raising him this past year.

@wrkbrk: Thanks. We are devastated. We don't agree with the decision to send him home right now, partly because she just had a baby on Tuesday. Introducing an almost two year old that basically sees her as a stranger is not a great idea, in my opinion.
And I'm glad you like the tattoo. I'm SO excited. I'll post pics when it's all done too!

@Mrs. Turtle: Wait. She just had a baby and wants him back NOW?!?!! That's crazy

@Mrs. Turtle: that is beautiful! I think side placement would be perfect and I love the sentiment behind it.
Also I'm so sorry about T The timing sounds awful and I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you guys.

@wrkbrk: Sigh. Yes. And everyone but her and CPS seems to agree with me that this is CRAZY.
@Synchronicity: Thanks. It is awful and CPS just doesn't get that. I keep saying, a newborn and almost 2 year old is hard on ANY parents. His mom is single, living in group transitional housing, is a recovering addict, zero income and oh wait, the almost 2 year old has zero bond with her and has lived with us for 3/4 of his life.

@Mrs. Turtle: I'm so sorry to hear about T. I know you've hinted at it on the boards, but I was hoping it would turn out differently. About T being a stranger - did they not have many visits? Also, do you have any sort of relationship with birth mom, so that you can see how T is doing and/or be a support system for them?
My friends have been fostering a sibling set for 3 years (!) now, and their girl went back to bio dad for 6 months in that timeframe, and they worked with him to support him, but ultimately she went back to live with my friends bc bio dad couldn't meet CPS requirements. Bio mom does enough to keep her rights, but not enough to get the kids back

@DesertDreams88: they had daily visits until she moved into her current housing in another county. Since then it's been weekly and each time has been worse and worse. I think the lack of bond is partially due to her not engaging with him much during visits also. I think it's horrible that kids stay in care so long. It is no way to grow up. They all deserve permanency.

@Mrs. Turtle: That is really beautiful! I'm so sorry to hear about T. I can't even imagine how hard that must be. You are a stronger person than I am.

@Mrs. Cereal: Thanks. I don't know that I'm that strong. We knew this was the goal all along, but really thought it would either happen sooner or not at all. We are approaching 18 months with him in our care. That is just too long for such a young child.
@petitenoisette: Thank you! He sure has.

@wrkbrk: Thanks! So far, no regrets. That's a good sign I hope!
@mrsbubbletea: Thanks. I'm so happy with it. And happy I found something so perfect to remind me of little T. I showed the kids (now that it isn't sore anymore) and told them one of the swingers was each of them. Now they run over saying "mama tree mama tree and point themselves out every time. So sweet.

I love your tattoo! I'm also a fan of tree of life designs. I wear a tree of life necklace almost everyday.
I'm sorry for what you're going through. I agree that tattoos can really help you process and express emotions. Yours is beautiful and I love the meaning behind it.

@Mrs. Turtle: Im so sorry about T but love this remembrance. Going through something similar, please please please know that every day over the last 18 months you have made a lasting impact on that child's life.
Question - if something does go wrong and CPS has to remove him again, is there a way for you guys to be the first notified so you can get him back?
