Anyone have to assist their little one with pooping? My LO is 7 weeks old tomorrow and we have to lube up a Q-Tip daily and insert it in his little bum to stimulate him to go. Pedi says the muscles he needs to push on his own just aren't developed enough yet but he will eventually get it.
I know he can go on his own - he has very very few times in his 7 weeks. If we don't help him out he gets extremely bloated and screams for hours on end, so we can't just wait it out (I know FF babies can go up to a week but not this one!)
Does anyone have experience or insight on this? Anyone with a LO that was like this and if so, when did they finally get the hang of it? I was worried that he would become dependent on the q-tip to go but pedi says no. She says it just acts as a stimulant or reminder to go (because after you remove the q-tip he DOES go on his own, so he is capable - he just doesn't know when to push?) All in all, I'm just concerned about this and would love some advice.
