Does anyone have honeycomb shades on windows or sliders?
We may go with this product in our family room. My concern is when the shades are closed not enough light will filter through and the room will be a cave. We keep the current blinds closed because of the heat and TV glare.

We recently got honeycomb shades for most of our house. They come in varying weights and even in blackout. The lighter ones won't make your room cave like but consider how much neighbors will be able to see at night with your lights on.

They're probably more expensive, but have you considered Silhouettes or a similar product?

We had them in our old home and really liked it! I wish we had them inthis one too. Our home was still really bright with them.

@spaniellove: yes, that's initially what we wanted. I have quotes for three options: 1) slhouettes/ luminette (vertical), 2) plantation shutters and 3) honeycomb.
Option 1 and 2 are about the same and pricey. Due to our window transoms we have to get some of the treatments motorized to control opening and closing. For the price of 1 and 2 I'd rather go with the shutters but my husband is not a fan of tshutters on oversized sliders.
So option 3 is more cost effective about 25-30% savings and for the windows at least is more in tune with what he would like to see up there.

@Corduroy: that is great to know. We have a healthy 10 ft ficus hedge that backs up to our neighbors privacy hedges and trees so backyard privacy is not too much of a concern.

We have honeycombs in part of our house and I like them. You can also get the ones that open from the top so that you can get light and still have privacy.
