Anyone use a hook on chair as their primary high chair? We only have a counter on our kitchen island, with counter height stools, no table. Would a hook on chair work on that? It's either quartz or granite countertop, if that matters.
I'm thinking some like this one below would be good so baby could face me to eat early on? Or I supposed we could buy counter height chairs with backs instead of the bar stools we have and get one of this fp space saver chairs everyone loves. Thoughts?

That's the chair we have! We use it as our primary chair because we don't have the space for a free standing chair. It definitely does the job. The draw backs are basically the same as any fabric chair--it's a PITA to clean, hence me not washing it as often as I should! But other than that, I like it. It's easy to put on and take off in the case that we need that space on the table.

Yes! We have the Inglesina one and I used it for both kids until age 3.
I usually take it outside a few times a year and scrub it off with a hard bristle brush and dish soap.
I didn't want to clutter the kitchen with a highchair and we usually eat at the island anyway so it made sense

@Mamaof2: We usually eat on TV trays in front of the TV-- classy. That's going to change when LO is eating with us though. Now we just eat after she goes to sleep but I want us to have family dinners, eventually.

LO is 19 months and i use our Phil & Teds lobster hook on chair on our kitchen island. I put her in there for breakfast, and when i'm prepping dinner. I love it!

Just be sure to check the clamp depth vs your counter especially if it has a lip.

I agree with @locavore_mama: i couldn't use it when i went over to friends' homes who have granite countertops because it doesn't go past the lip.

Check to make sure that it is compatible first.
We had that same chair in a different color as our primary chair for LO because our table was bar height and we only had barstools for it. It worked just fine until about 2.5 years old. By them, it was starting to fall apart and LO was getting close to the max weight for it. DH ended up sawing the legs off of our table and now we use regular chairs and bought a Tripp Trapp chair for DS.
@hilsy85: agree, it is a huge PITA to clean and I felt like washing it, even though infrequently and on a quick cycle, really made it wear out fast (seams coming undone).

I don't understand the whole cloth highchair thing... WHY?!
Anyway, we are getting one of these from a friend who had babies 10-15 years ago. Not the prettiest thing, but sooooo much more practical. I think it's called a Graco Tot Loc. They don't make them anymore but you may be able to find them on ebay or craigslist.
He is a pediatrician, and they used it as their primary and only high chair everywhere! Hooked on their island. On their kitchen table. On their dining room table. On restaurant tables. On other people's tables.
