I used to buy Trader Joe's Organic since it was way cheaper than Horizons, but I've recently discovered a local farm - Ronnybrook Farms - that does organic (no antibiotics and no hormones, pasture fed). Milk goes from cow to me, in glass bottles (!), in 1-2 days so it's super fresh. The milk is pasteurized but not homogenized so I do have to shake it before pouring to distribute the cream, but I like that it's minimally processed. I actually taste a big difference from the TJ and Horizons milk - it tastes very fresh and milk-y! It's $2.50 per quart so it costs the same as Horizons and I don't mind paying more.
Anyone in the NYC area - they are stocked at Chelsea Market but I prefer buying from their Union Sq Green Market stand (only on Wednesdays) since it's freshly driven in from the farm.
