I'm hoping to hear from people who were very active prior to TTC. I compete in several triathlons each year and am currently in the off season so my workouts looks like this for a week:
Monday & Wednesdays: Strength training at the gym for 45 mins
Tuesday: Swim 1500-2100 yards
Thursday: Run 3-4 miles
Saturday: Long run of 6-7 miles (building up each week towards a half marathon in April)
Sundays: Yoga

After 6 months of not getting pregnant and a month of using ovulation test strips which never showed a positive ovulation, I went to see the doctor. She ran tests and said everything looks great and sees no issues. They saw follicles (or eggs not sure which term to use) on the ovaries and that they were forming. It appears I just may not be ovulating. She suggested a possible cause is a lot of exercise and cutting back on my runs, easing up on the exercise, and maybe gaining some weight. I'm 5'5 and 120 lbs so I don't think I'm super skinny or anything. I love working out and I'm not sure about this plan as it just seems like a possibility for me not ovulating. If it was a guaranteed thing of me ovulating if I cut back I absolutely would but I'm not sure if I want to do it if it's just a possibility. There's a huge triathlon (a 70.3 mile) I want to do in June so I will need to start officially training in about 3 weeks. I plan to compete in the race if I'm newly pregnant but would buy the insurance in case I wasn't feeling up to it so I could back out if needed.

Did anyone have success ovulating/getting pregnant while working out a lot? If you were active and not ovulating, if you cut back on the exercise, did you then start ovulating?
