One week in, it takes me about an hour and a half to do a diaper change, nurse, supplement with bm, burp, get baby back to sleep, pump, clean up pump etc so I am pretty awake afterwards. Wish I could just fall right to sleep!

This is the hardest part of mommy hood for me. I don't mind a bit to wake up with her when she needs to eat. But it makes me crazy to lay in bed awake for so long after she is back to sleep!! It's always been really tough for me to fall asleep. Meanwhile my husband is out like a light the second his head hits the pillow!

@MamaMoose: I think most husbands are like that. Not fair!

I'm the same way! Also knowing we will be up again in 1-2 hours makes it even harder. You want to be able to have every minute of sleep.

Usually, it's about an hour to an hour and a half for me to get it all done. I hate how awake I am after, but it's hard not to wake up all the way when there's a machine pulling at your nips!

@MamaMoose: should have that framed for our DHs!
@autumn865: yeah, sometimes I just stay up until the next cycle although a half hr snooze can be really rejuvenating too!

It gets better! It got to the point that she would wake up, I would go grab her, sit on the couch, nurse and put her back in bed. By the time I crawled back in bed I was pretty relaxed.
I do remember those tough days though!

I'm pretty awake... What I hate is hearing him fuss and not knowing if its going to escalate so I have to go back in or if he'll settle. I've fallen asleep glasses on sitting up bc I waited too long to realize we were clear!
If I were you I'd buy more pump parts so you at least wouldn't have to wash at night!

I don't' even remember those days, I passed through them in such a haze of sleepless nights! I think my husband helped with the overnights until he went back to work, then I took on all duties myself. Once she got a little older, I was so happy to drop the overnight diaper changes!!!
@Andrea: @MaisyMay: I think the hardest part of pumping overnight was having to deal with pump parts. I ended up just refrigerating my parts after every session so I wouldn't have to clean them until the next day and they were set up and ready to go when I needed to pump the next time.

Ack! I remember the days when a middle of the night feed would take 1.5 hours with all of those steps you mentioned. I never had trouble falling back asleep though because I think I was sooo tired.
When the nighttime feeds turned into a quick 10-minute nursing session I'd have way more trouble falling back asleep!

@scg00387: i only steam clean them once a day. in the middle of the night, i just rinse them out with hot water and put them on a towel to air dry so it really doesn't take THAT long but I guess every few minutes is precious!
@mediagirl: i am too paranoid to refrigerate. i read that bacteria grows on anything moist in the fridge so i prefer to leave my pump parts out to air dry!

I diaper change, feed, burp and pump. I leave bottle washing for the morning. I think everything takes about 40 mins. -.-
I'm pretty awake by the time I'm done pumping, but I fell asleep pretty quickly last night.

For the middle of the night feeds, I was able to fall back asleep pretty easily, but I never had to deal with pumping at night. The hardest one for me was always if LO was up around 5 or 6 and my body would think it was time to wake up afterwards. Sometimes I would be able to watch a little TV and fall back asleep, and sometimes I just got up for the day then.
